Sesame Street Learning Rocks Episode Synopsis:
When famous rocker Virgil Von Vivaldi shows up on Sesame Street, it is up to Elmo, Abby, Zoe and friends to use their creativity to make a new rock band for Virgil.  The catch?  Virgil’s wants his “rock” band to be made entirely out of rocks!  Elmo and friends take on this fun challenge and set out on a quest to find the perfect rocks for Virgil.  They identify each rock they come across and study its characteristics to decide how it can be best used in the band.  First, they find a tiny pebble that they realize is too light to be the lead singer, but can be the tambourine player instead.  Elmo then spots a heavy rock that he determines will play the gong.  Zoe then meets Rocco, whom she identifies as a basalt rock, a type of igneous rock that was formed by a volcano.  Because basalt rocks have many holes, he too cannot be the lead singer, but can be the bass player.  Next, Elmo finds a limestone with fossils in it that will be the flute player.  Zoe finds a shiny rock called obsidian that can play the oboe. Then, Abby finds marble that is sparkly and colorful and can play the mandolin.  Still in search of a lead singer, Abby changes Vergil into a smooth, sparkly rock called a gem.  With all the pieces in place, it is finally time to rock on!
Another episode features Donald Glover, who plays the rock star LMNOP (a spoof of the musical duo LFMAO), who is set to perform on Sesame Street, only to discover that he has lost all of his music equipment. Telly and friends must work fast to create replacements in time for his big show.
And, if it couldn’t get any better, in addition to two full episodes, Sesame Street: Learning Rocks includes a bonus story where Elmo discovers a grasshopper and rapper Rev Run (from Run DMC) show it how to “hop this way.” Other special features include appearances from actress Anna Faris actor Dax Shepard, as well as bonus segments “Abby’s Flying Fairy School” and “Elmo The Musical.”
DVD Runtime: 121 Minutes

Our Thoughts:
Our package from Sesame Street is here!
Sesame Street has had a good run so far in our house. B watched when he was younger, S will still sit and watch it a bit, and C had never seen it before. Both Adam and I remember watching it as kids and loving all the characters, singing, and silliness. I couldn't wait to introduce C to the street and see what she thought.

Can I just say, from start to finish and over again, what a hit the Learning Rocks DVD was! I love that Sesame Street can change and add new guest stars, but still have that lovable, likable sameness I remember growing up. This DVD was such a winner, I could not praise it more. We were traveling and needed something to entertain the last leg of the trip, this easily did the trick. It captivated C from beginning to end as she clapped, laughed, and wiggled along with it. The bigger kids were interested in hearing bits and pieces too, they couldn't see it on their DVD screen.  I couldn't feel too bad because the episodes were full of learning-science, vocabulary, music, the normal Sesame Street style. We even found ourselves singing along to the music after hearing it and I know I was tapping my fingers on the steering wheel more than once. I am a Donald Glover fan, so seeing that he was a part of  the episode was pretty cool to listen to, while I was driving. C has now since recognized Sesame Street characters in the store and gets all excited when she sees them and has tons of interest in watching Sesame Street when we catch it on television. I know this DVD will be a hit for quite some time and we will use it on any longer car trip because we know it will entertain.
