Take a Stylish Step Toward Summer with Amy Matto Designs #Review

I don't quite remember what it feels like to be well dressed (pre-mommy-hood), especially for special occasions. After becoming a mom, I ditched the idea of dressing really nicely, because I couldn't stand the thought of my nice clothing being ruined by spit-up, or food stains... or general kid stains. Yes ladies, there are some stains that even dry cleaning can't remove. Sigh. I just stopped shopping for nice dresses, altogether, because the few that I had, had already been stained. Now that my son is no longer a baby, and hardly a toddler, I'm bringing some of my nicer apparel back out of the woodwork, and even adding some new pieces to my collection. The thought of stains still scares me a bit, but they no longer have a hold on this mom!

Amy Matto

Not long ago, I had the great pleasure of connecting with the fine folks at Amy Matto New York. They were kind enough to send me some absolutely beautiful dresses for springtime, and I am thrilled to be working with them once more, to showcase a couple of beautiful selections for summertime.

You can read my previous Amy Matto feature, here. Amy Matto is a fabulous designer, who really takes the things a woman wants in dressier apparel, into consideration when designing her pieces. Amy Matto dresses are lined, breathable, flattering, and comfortable, while being modern, yet modest- offering a twist on classics, and a bit of modesty, for women like me, who don't like to bare it all for the the world to see.

Front Twist Dress for 2014, by Amy Matto

I love all of Amy Matto's designs, and would be thrilled to have a closet full of her lovely dresses. With summertime fast approaching, I knew that there would be occasions to dress for. Summertime is filled with special celebrations, right on the heels of Mother's Day, like weddings, baby showers, parties, and the like. As I looked through their many gorgeous dress designs, I was immediately drawn to the lovely Front Twist Dress.

The Front Twist Dress is beautifully designed to flatter every shape. It's a lovely twist on a classic silhouette, with a flattering knot twist at the waist. I'm thin, but I have my share of curves, too. My problem with finding flattering dresses has always been length and cut. I'm small up top, have a short torso, long arms, and long legs. A lot of dresses wind up being too short, and too large on top, forcing me to go with a smaller size... which, of course, makes the dress ever shorter! Amy Matto knows how to design for a woman's shape, and for that, I am grateful!

My Amy Matto dresses have arrived! So excited!

All of Amy Matto's designs are made right here, in the USA.

My package was prettily wrapped in blue tissue paper, and sealed with an Amy Matto sticker.

As I opened up the paper, I was so excited to see the Front Twist Dress. The dress is a new design for 2014, and available in four colors- cobalt, aqua, crimson, and heather. I knew that this dress would look beautiful in every color, and I was tempted to go with the crimson, because I think that every woman should have at least one striking red dress in her closet. As I thought of spring and summer, however, aqua stuck out in my mind, so that's the one I went with... and I'm glad I did!

My Front Twist Dress in Aqua arrived on a hanger, and protected by plastic.

My husband admired this dress, along with me, and I have to admit, I really wanted to put it on that very moment. I knew the first occasion that I wanted to wear this dress for, however, so I decided to hold off until that special day arrived.

The Front Twist Dress by Amy Matto is made of French Ponte: 75% Viscose, 20% Polyester, 5% Spandex, and the inside lining: 100% Polyester. This is a lovely, light fabric combination for the summertime, and the slight stretch to the dress, is much appreciated! I love that the dress is fully lined, because that means that I don't have to waste time trying on a ton of slips or other undergarments, to see what works best, and gives me coverage where I want or need it. This takes the guesswork out of my dressing routine... since the dress is lined, you can't see a thing through it! I could wear black undergarments under this dress, and you would never be able to tell.

Love at first slip-on! I am one happy camper in the beautiful Front Twist Dress in Aqua, by Amy Matto...

I chose to save this beautiful dress to wear for Mother's Day. Last year, I was sick on Mother's Day, and sort of just threw something on before heading out to church, followed by lunch with my family. This year, I wanted to look and feel my very best, which is why this dress was the perfect choice!

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I received countless compliments on this dress. I love the cut- it's classy, and sexy, without being revealing. The neckline is flattering, a bit offset, and the twist detail is so lovely. My husband went wild over this dress, and said he can't wait to take me somewhere special, so I can wear it again.  One of my super fashion forward mom friends from church loves this dress so much, she asked if she could borrow it!

This dress features an invisible zipper in the back, making it almost seamless!

Cut right above the knee, the Front Twist Dress is a fun, yet modest length, with comfortable coverage.

I think I've mentioned before that I do a lot of moving around on Sundays, as I lead worship at our church. I was absolutely comfortable in this dress, didn't hesitate to lean over to pick my son up, or to buckle him into his car seat. I wore this dress comfortably well into the afternoon hours, and was sad to have to take it off!

I paired the Front Twist Dress with an ivory pair of sandals that I actually wore to my sister-in-law's wedding. The shoes and the dress were a great match! I could have played the dress up with jewelry, but honestly- when wearing a dress like this, the dress is the piece that should make a statement, not the accessories. I opted for my tiny ivory pearl studs, and left it at that- no need to bother with a necklace or bracelet.

A sweet Mother's Day photo with my little sweetie...

The Front Twist Dress was comfortable to be in- indoors, and outdoors.

I couldn't have picked a better dress for Mother's Day. I enjoyed wearing it, and enjoyed telling the other ladies about Amy Matto, as well. Amy Matto's collections are so wonderful, and versatile! Amy's designs are flattering on all shapes, and are available in sizes 2-12. I am wearing the Front Twist Dress in a size 4. Amy Matto has collections available for daytime, work, cocktail, beach, and a collection of T-shirts, as well!

Couldn't be happier with the Front Twist Dress, and can't wait to wear it again!

I'll have a lot of other fabulous Amy Matto designs to show you- and I can't wait to share my review of the Minka Ombre dress with you, next! I have an Amy Matto wish list about a mile long... there isn't a single Amy Matto design that I wouldn't love to own! This dress is a wonderful option for a cocktail party, afternoon or evening wedding, bridal or baby shower, special celebration, etc. We have a wedding reception to go to next weekend, and I am seriously thinking that I will wear this dress again!
