Snack Love = California Delicious Gift Baskets #Review + $50.00 Gift Card #Giveaway

We're just about one week and a day from Valentine's Day. It sneaks up on us every year, because January has a tendancy to fly by us! I am growing more and more fond of Valentine's Day, a holiday that my husband and I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to until we became parents. I have been doing all sorts of fun things with B (who is three years old, going on fourteen), between baking and crafts, and I even have a fun little Valentine's Day surprise up my sleeve for him. My hubby and I aren't really into giving each other Valentine gifts, but this year, I really wanted to show him how much our family loves him, and how much we appreciate how very hard he works, so that I can stay home (and work), and care for our son.

California Delicious

So, when I was given the opportunity to work with California Delicious, a premier gift basket order and delivery service, I jumped at the chance! Since 1987, the staff of California Delicious has been working hard to bring the very best of California's gourmet selections to customers. From fresh produce like gorgeous fruits to tasty treats like chocolates and coffees to cheese and wine, California Delicious offers an amazing variety of gift baskets and special packages to match every budget, with so many wonderful options to choose from.

I was offered my choice of a gift basket (within a certain price range) from California Delicious. I had quite a hard time narrowing my choices down. If I had been selecting the gift basket for myself, I would have gone wild over the coffee lovers choices, but keeping my hardworking husband in mind, I wanted to choose something that I knew he would enjoy, so we could share a special Valentine's Day date together.

Our California Delicious Gift Basket arrived in a nice, sturdy box, with a California Delicious sticker on it.

I was excited about the gift basket, because I already knew what was in it, but I wanted to let Sacha open it up.

Here's his first glimpse at the beautiful gift basket we received!

I selected the lovely Golden Delights Basket, because it seemed to offer a variety of sweet and savory treats. Now, my hubby isn't usually one to go super crazy over sweets, but when they're gourmet sweet treats, they don't seem to last in our home for very long!

Here's a look at the entire Golden Delights Basket by California Delicious- isn't it gorgeous?

I'm not sure who in our house was most excited about this lovely gift basket- me, hubby or little B. As soon as B saw that there was chocolate in the gift basket, his hands were all over it! I enjoyed seeing Sacha look into the wrapped Golden Delights gift basket, salivating over the yummies- cheese, cheese straws, chocolate truffles, just to name a few of the items that were begging us to rip them open and devour (I mean savor) them.

The gift basket was beautifully packaged with clear cello wrap, and topped of with a pretty gold ribbon, tied into a bow.

Cookies, Biscotti, Truffles and Cheese... oh, my yum!

Sacha and I were both so impressed by the packaging and presentation of the goodies in the Golden Delights gift basket from California Delicious. We have received a fair share of gift baskets through the years, but this one truly takes the cake and crackers! I don't like having to 'guess at' what's tucked inside of a gift basket. Everything packaged inside of this delicious gift, was clearly visible- nothing was hiding, and we weren't going to have to dig through a ton of paper shreds to retrieve the goodies.

And check out the actual basket- beautiful woven wood basket with handles.

I also love that after we take everything out of the gift basket, I will be left with a beautiful, useful basket! I have already been trying to decide what I might do with it. It's so pretty, and I'd like for it to be seen. I may use it in my dining room, or perhaps in the bathroom, to hold guest towels... or I may even save it, and re-gift it (but knowing me, I'll probably keep it!).

Pretty details on the basket, and wrapped handles...

The savory side of the basket housed Bruschetta Crisps, Monterey Jack Cheese and Toffee Pretzels!

After staring at our Valentine gift basket for several days, and really not wanting to dismantle it, because it just looked so pretty, I knew it was time to open it up and try some of its contents. My mother-in-law saw it sitting on our kitchen counter, and commented how lovely it looked, and that it really looked like a 'fancy' gift basket. I couldn't disagree with her- it really was fancy, and we were itching to taste some of the yummy treats inside of it.

I truly didn't have to tear through the basket or dig to remove anything. All of the treats were individiually packaged, in their own little boxes or bags. Nothing was glued down, and there was hardly any tape used to hold any of the items together in the basket. I didn't have to fight shreds of paper, or have them falling all over the floor as I removed the items, either!

One of the first things I tried- the Monterey Jack Cheese Spread

I made a little lunch plate with the cheese spread, some crackers, red peppers and a Clementine.

The Monterey Jack Cheese spread was so creamy and delicious! I am always fearful that MJ Cheese will be overpowering, but this was very light and mild. It was a nice compliment to a simple wheat cracker, and even tasted great with the red peppers. Don't worry, I didn't try the cheese spread on the fruit!

Sacha couldn't wait to try some of these other yummies... which to open next?

I knew Sacha had been eyeing the truffles, and with good reason... they were still wrapped and inside of the box, and they looked delicious! We opened the box to find the truffles wrapped and sealed for freshness, and then when we looked into the package we found little bite sized truffles in the shape of little hearts! How very sweet, indeed!

Heart shaped chocolate truffles, dusted with cocoa powder. Delicious!

B was after the Ghirardelli Chocolates- a favorite name in chocolate delights in our house!

And here's what I just knew Sacha would go crazy for... the cheese straws!

Shh! Don't tell anyone that I tasted one of these buttery, flaky, delicious cheese straws before my husband did!

Sea Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies!

These crisp little cookies are the perfect compliment to an afternoon cup of tea- or the hot cocoa mix that came with the gift basket!

Obviously, we can't gobble all of these yummies up in one sitting (I mean, we could, but we won't). Remember Valentine's Day? Right- it hasn't arrived yet, and I have a little date night plan up my sleeve, sans kiddo. I am hoping for a night at home with my husband, where we'll enjoy these sweet and savory treats with a nice glass of wine. Sometimes, staying in is much more satisfying than going out! I can't wait to put these out as a delicious spread for Valentine's Day, and to enjoy the company of my husband. What better Valentine's Day gift is there?

California Delicious has so many delicious gift baskets and gift packages to choose from, perfect for Valentine's Day, and many more occasions!
