With Valentine's Day inching closer and closer, I am finding myself less and less prepared! My hubby and I have not really celebrated Valentine's Day, since we became a couple. Now that we're parents, however, I pay a little more attention to the holidays, and want to make them special for our son, especially while he's still little.
Having special little items around the house for my son, are sweet little reminders of our love for him. I'd give him the world, if I could. My husband and I were chatting about Valentine's Day and I mentioned that I'd love to make it special for B this year by presenting him with a couple of special items, and to take him out for a Valentine's Day breakfast as a family, instead of loading him up with candy and sweets.
Meet Jennifer, owner of Tales of a Peanut
A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon Tales of a Peanut, owned and operated by Jennifer Elwell. Jennifer is a mom of two (soon to be three!) who stays at home and works on her stationery shop. She loves to read and write and spends entirely too much time pinning things that she'll never do on Pinterest (who doesn't?). Jennifer and I connected and thought that he cute designs would make a wonderful feature for Valentine's Day here on MBP. Jennifer offered to make a very special personalized placemat for Balian, and send to us to enjoy!

I couldn't wait to see the special personalized placemat that Jennifer created for B! Tales of a Peanut's designs are so adorable, and I was excited that the placemat would feature two designs- one on the front, and a different design on the reverse side.

We also received a handwritten note from Jennifer, telling us she hoped we would enjoy the placemat. I always appreciate when folks take the time to send us a personal note- it really says something about their customer service. Thank you, Jennifer!

When I picked the placemat up for the first time, and held it in my hand, I was pleased to find that it wasn't flimsy. The weight of the actual placemat, along with the thickness of the laminate, keeps the placemat sturdy, and from buckling/bending in hand. I thought the designs on the placemat were wonderful. I loved the little hearts that were added to the train for Valentine's Day, and loved the everyday reverse side, featuring the truck. I had a feeling that B was going to love them, too!

B was so excited to see his special placemat. He loved the blue and white stripes, and of course, he loved the train. I showed him the little hearts in the train car, and explained a little but about Valentine's Day. B was also very excited to see his name printed on the placemat, and even pointed out to me that his name was there, all on his own.

B's new personalized placemat from Tales of a Peanut has seen a lot of action the past week or so. We have had just about every meal at this special placemat, and Balian has been excited about coming to the table. The placemat seems to be keeping his interest, and keeping him at the dining table longer, and with much less whining! We have also been using the placemat for activities, other than eating. We placed a mixing bowl on it when we mixed and baked our special Valentine cake, we've played with Play-Doh on it, and we've done some kitchen art projects on it, as well.

We've used the placemat for projects and play, because of how quickly and easily it cleans up. I like that the placemat covers a wide area of the small table we have in our kitchen, and since it's heavily laminated, I can give it a quick wash, and then it dries quickly, as well. This definitely makes my life much easier, and it can be used over and over again, unlike the cloth placemat sets we normally use, which wind up having to be laundered after every meal.

We feel so blessed to have this very special placemat for B. Since February first, I have been writing special little notes to B, on his placemat before breakfast, When he sits down with daddy, they read it together, and it keeps him engaged during our family breakfast time. It also reminds him how very much he is loved by his daddy and me. I have a feeling that we'll be using this adorable placemat for a long, long time.
