The #Grammy's Were Cool, but I'm Gettin' too Old for This!

Hey, hey and happy Monday! The weekend flew by for our family. We did some shopping on Saturday after sleeping in for a bit, and by sleeping in, I mean B woke us up at 7:30 am. Hey, I'll take what I can get in the extra sleep department. We were home at a decent hour on Saturday night, which allowed B to get to sleep at a decent time, and gave hubby and I a couple of hours to chill.

Sundays are always busy for us. I am up super early to get a workout in before showering and geting ready for church. We're part of the team that leads worship and music for our church's contemporary worship service, which begins at 9 am. We have to be there, ready to do a sound check at 8:30 am. After worship, it was home for me, and B. I had some work to do, and B was happy to be my pal and play quietly. After hubby came home from the traditional service at church, around 12:30 pm, we had lunch, did some chores, and hubs and B played and then watched a movie while I- you guessed it... worked.

So, so sleepy on Sunday!

Hubby made dinner while I did laundry on Sunday evening. I love it when he's home and available to help out with that sort of stuff. He's a pro at making homemade burgers, anyway- so it was definitely a must for him to be the one in the kitchen last night. B was so tired, he fell asleep during dinner, around 7 pm. That gave us a chance to have a quiet dinner, and then it was time for me to join the Twitterverse and get my live tweeting on during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. I'm not so Twitter savvy, so this was quite the experience for me. I had a blast tweeting with Gain (yeah- the laundry detergent) and commenting with my thoughts on the show's performances, award winners, etc. Gain also had one of the most hilarious moments of fun at someone else's expense. See reference here.

The Grammys were actually sort of eye-opening for me. I mean, I know Beyonce and Jay-Z (I once saw Jay-Z tape a TRL segment at the NC Transportation Museum... along with most of my graduating class- in 2000!), but a lot of the artists were new to me. I loved a lot of the performances- I thought Pink's cirque-like performance was prety impressive! Daft Punk w/Pharrell's 'Get Lucky,' was probably the best song of the night, in my opinion and lots of fun. B and I have been dancing to that song all day. I don't know much about Lorde, but that girl has soul- I can tell, and I like her music, too. The thing with Queen Latifah and Madonna- don't get me started. Fine- it was fine for all of those couples to be married and really, awesome for them...equality- yes, I'm for it... but at the Grammy's? Really? I was so pumped to see Madonna perform, and it was such a let down. 'Same Love' is cool- I get it, and I even like it, but couldn't help but chuckle when my musician husband looked at me and asked, 'How is this even a song? Really?'

I had hoped that Muse might win an award, because they're our favorite band... they're still winners to us! I mean, none of those other guys have anything on what the lead singer of Muse can do- vocally or instrumentally! Maybe next year?

I also spent a few minutes before dinner playing in a fort with my son. Never a dull moment.

All in all, I thought it was a great night for music, and a great show. I enjoyed catching up with what's popular in music, in all categories. Twitter was a lot of fun, and you should expect to see more of an MBP presence over there. Facebook is sort of killing our interaction with our readers, because of their changes to how pages are seen in news feeds. The hardest thing about last night, was staying up until nearly midnight! I am hardly ever up until midnight anymore, and it was definitely hard to turn around and get up five and a half hours after hitting the pillow! I know I'm only thirty-one, but for real, I feel like those days are long gone. Most nights, I'd give anything to bed in bed around 9:00!

Did you guys catch the Grammy's? What did you think?

  1. Sadly, I didn't get a chance to whatch Grammy. We have been so busy and never get a chance to watch TV. But I have seen some posts over the net and see how beautiful Taylor Swift is. She's stunning :)

  2. I might be old at a young age but I never stay awake through the whole thing. I usually try to watch some of it but this year I just didn't get a chance.

  5. No television here. Okay so we have a television but can only watch netflix or movies on it because we are in the middle of the country and don't subscribe to anything. I don't think I've ever watched the grammy's before.
