Summer has come and gone and we have yet to go on a real vacation. We have one coming up very soon and I can not wait. Until then, we have relied on Little Passports and the traveling adventures we go on with Sam and Sofia. B and S love to see where we will be going each month. What is Little Passports you ask, MBP has been covering Little Passports each month for almost a year now. We have been blessed with the opportunity and get to share them with you. Look what came in the mailbox! Our package is here for August!
S really wanted in this month, so we gave her the honors of opening the package first this time. B was happy to share because he knew how much fun it is either way.

The favorite part of the trip for us is the special surprise they send. Remember the Bengal Tiger from their letter, well they sent a stuffed one for us! S was thrilled with a new stuffed toy and B thought he was pretty cute too. We took this opportunity to reread the letter and talk about how they are almost extinct.
Little Passports has once again been a hit with the kids and they are already begging for next month. I can give you a little hint from our India Decoder-it starts with an "E".

Sam and Sofia are the two traveling characters within Little Passports and each month they travel to a new destination and send us fun things from their discoveries. We love finding where Sam and Sofia have been and what they have found. You can read our month two, three, four, five, six, seven, and eight as well to see where we have been. This would make a great holiday gift for the child who has everything, my kids have been loving each and every month.

Traveling to India, yes please!
A letter is always included in the package. The letter is from Sam and Sofia telling us all about their trip, this time to India. When we first started getting Little Passports, B was just beginning to read, now a pro he can read the whole letter to us. It truly is amazing the things he is capable of less than one year later! This letter was especially neat because it talked a lot about Bengal Tigers (stay tuned for more about them later in the review), buildings, rivers, and so many interesting things about India. They also talked about a festival called Holi where people throw colored powder and water at each other, both kids thought this sounded so fun and reminded them of a 5K they want to do called the Color Run. I love when they can make even small connections from the big world to their tiny world.
B was ready to get in on the action and find some more goodies from Little Passports.
He discovered the Boarding Pass and Activity Sheet. The whole front side of the Activity Sheet was an India decoder, it discussed Ganesha (a famous Hindu God) and how it is said that Ganesha can help with your writing skills. This really peaked B's interest because his teacher is really into writing and they have been doing a ton of it at school. He had fun figuring out the missing letters in the decoder to see what we could find-it was a hint to next month's travels. On the back there was a word search, also a favorite of B's and a menu. We had fun reading the menu and deciding what we would order. Mom picked Poppadom (a crisp flat bread with different toppings), tandoori chicken, and kheer (similar to rice pudding). We all wanted to avoid Vindaloo-the hottest Indian dish that can make you sweat-NO THANKS!
We also headed over to the secret area with our special Boarding Pass to play some games. With three games dedicated to India, we found our favorite in the India Puzzle Mania-it gave us both a puzzle to complete and facts about India.
Always an extra fun part-stickers! We get a sticker for our suitcase, the map, and our passport.
Passport complete with our trip to India. He is so proud of all his travels so far! B really liked the color of the Indian flag and browsed through his other flags to see if any where similar.
Then we used the pinpoint sticker to locate India on the map. Sam and Sofia's letter had given us a really helpful hint-that India looks sort of like a slice of pizza and is located at the bottom of the Asian continent. Once they figured out where Asia was, with a little mom help, they easily found it and placed the sticker.
There it is!
S also got to place the suitcase sticker, it is looking full of fun travels. The tiger had to make another appearance too!

ReplyDeleteI've seen this a few times on Living social, but always passed because they didn't make it seem very interesting. It's a shame because this looks really neat. This is a great way for children to learn geography.
