Part of Balian's Bedroom Makeover Week

A few weeks ago, my hubby and I broke down and decided to give our son, who is two and a half, a bedroom makeover. We had a great time decorating his nursery, and selecting a theme that would match the wall color in his room, so we wouldn't have to paint it (a lovely, calming sea green). Now that B is older, and has a mind of his own, he definitely wants to have his own say in everything from what's on his dinner plate to what he wears each day. We knew he'd definitely have something to say about what type of theme he'd want for a big boy bedroom, eventhough we weren't surprised by his answer.

As soon as we decided on a Disney's Cars theme, we knew everything would have to change, from the wall color to the decor. I found a lot of cute ways to decorate, and did a lot of little craft projects to help tie the room together, but I knew that Balian deserved a few extra special touches in his new big boy room.



Last spring, I had the opportunity to work with Erin Delanty, owner and designer behind Zoey's Attic Personalized Gifts. She designed an adorable personalized shirt for Balian, with an Easter theme, and I just loved everything about it.  You can read more about Erin and the story behind Zoey's Attic, here. I reached out to Erin to see about reviewing a personlaized item for his new big boy bedroom, and was met with a resounding 'yes!'

I selected a Personalized Race Car Pillowcase for review. The design was pretty much already in place, and I chose it because the colors and theme of the pillowcase matched the theme for Balian's new room- perfectly! I sent over a few personalization preferences- Balian's name, obviously, and a tag underneath the image on the pilowcase. When our pillowcase arrived, I couldn't wait to see what it looked like, and show it to Balian, of course!

When I took the pillowcase out of the packaging and unfolded it, I was delighted to see the little red race car with the number 95 on it, just like Balian's favorite race car character! Balian's name was spelled out in bold red and black block letters, next to two checkered flags, waving the car down the road. Underneath the road, I asked if Erin could add 'Speed. I am Speed,' as the custom text. It's Lightning McQueen's theme, and Balian loves to walk around the house, repeating it. I thought he'd get a big kick out of it being on his pillow.

Erin used a race car design fitting for a toddler. On her website, I saw a different design, that may be better suited for an older boy, but she took great care to use the design that she knew Balian would love most. This race car looks an awful lot like his favorite lightning fast pal!


Finally, the personalized pillow has made it to the bed!

We had just gotten a new bedding set for B's room, and I was so excited to add the pillow to his bed! We've got red, black and white race car elements all around his room, against a blue color on the walls, so it's really a perfect fit. Balian has been sleeping very peacefully on this pillowcase, and loves to drag it around the house to lounge on.

I have already washed B's pillowcase a few times, and it still looks brand spanking new! He prefers to sleep on this pillowcase, rather than the one that came with his bedding set, because it's silky soft and 100% cotton. This special pillowcase makes Balian feel like a big boy, and definitely gives him an incentive to sleep in his own big boy bed at night... which makes mommy and daddy happy!

Balian has really been loving his pillow, and he has been showing it off to all of his grandparents, cousins and pals. I wouldn't be surprised if it starts traveling with him to spend the night at grandma and grammy and papa's houses. As a mom, I love that this simple gift makes Balian feel so special, and unique. I so appreciate Erin's passion for making parents and kids feel special, and working tirelessly to tailor her products to suit certain styles, color schemes, and little ones favorite tastes!
