Memento Makes Summertime Personal (Review & Giveaway)

Our family just returned from a week long vacation at Topsail Island, NC- a beautiful coastal community, which our family really enjoys. When packing for a week long beach vaca, I have a pretty extensive list of must-haves for the vacation, and for use while on the beach. Our family has been blessed to be able to work with some wonderful sponsors this summer, who all helped to outfit us with useful items for our vacation, and those hard at work, or lazy summer days!

I was very excited to connect with the team at Memento- Monograms Make It Personal. I am a huge fan of monogrammed, personalized items, so I knew this would be a wonderful partnership! Memento was founded by Terri Johnson in 2007. The vision behind Memento was to be able to offer customized, made to order products that would be memorable to the customer. With a mix of creative spirit, inspiration and a drive for entrepreneurship, Ms. Johnson offers her customers both beautiful products, and a true style experience, reflecting their personal tastes and desires.

I was offered a variety of beautiful monogrammed items from Memento to review, and wound up selecting a fun Chevron Tote/Floppy Hat combo. I was able to choose from a large selection of colors for the actual products, select the thread coloring for the monogram, and select my preferred font for the monogram, as well.

I chose the aqua colored Chevron Tote and Floppy Hat for a couple of reasons. My favorite bathing suit matches this color almost perfectly, so that was an instant win! My other bathing suit, was black, and I thought that the aqua, white and the hot pink thread in the monograms would look great against black, as well.

I requested the same color thread and the same monogram font for each item. I purposely wanted them to match. Can you tell that I'm a matchy--matchy kind of gal? It drives my husband crazy sometimes! For the actual monogram, I chose the Elegant Script font. I liked all of the fonts that I was able to choose from, but this one was my favorite.

I was immediately impressed by the items that I received from Memento. I loved the look of the monogram on both pieces- which are large, easily seen and truly elegant-looking. They looked like they were destined to be a part of each product, instead of add-ons. Both the floppy hat and the chevron tote are large, quality products. I was drooling over them, just looking at them sitting on my dining table. I couldn't wait to get them to the beach so I could put them to use!

Is this a beautiful combination, or what? Absolutely stylish, fun and functional- everything a girl could want in a personalized product!

I found use for my Chevron tote right away. It was so much roomier than I thought it would be, and features an interior zip pouch, attached the the inside of the bag with a long ribbon strap. The tote also features an exterior pocket that has a zip and velcro closure. I thought that I might as well use it to tote some gear to the beach, and wow- I was blown away by how many things I was able to pack into it for the trip! I zipped it closed, and packed it into the car for the five hour drive to the beach from our house.

When we got to the beach, I unloaded the bag and re-packed it with everything we would need for a day out on the beach- extra sunscreen, snacks, towels, light sand toys, etc. In the secret pocket, I was able to put our cell phones, some cash, the camera and the house key in there. I loved that these were in a separate pocket, because that meant that they wouldn't get wet, if anything else in the bag was wet.

The tote was really sturdy. I loved the reinforced handles, which gave me lots of room to swing over my shoulder. It was light and easy to carry, and it was the cutest beach tote I could spot the entire stretch of beach we were on. I think my mom and my sister wanted this tote for themselves! That's the thing about monogrammed items, though- it's silly to loan them out when your name is stamped on it!

We only had one accident with the tote, and it was my fault. A sippy cup without a stopper spilled out in the bag, getting icky, sticky Gatorade all over the inside. I am happy to report, however, that I was able to remove all of the items, and wipe the interior of the tote down with a little warm water, let it sit out in the sun and dry, and then it was good to go, once more!

Monogram on the Floppy Hat- Aqua/Hot Pink/Circle Script

As much as I love the Chevron Tote, I also love the Floppy Hat. I have a huge love for big, floppy hats, and girls- this hat does not disappoint! It fits beautifully, and has a large, wide brim, so it really does keep the sin out of one's eyes, and protect the scalp. I have very fine, thin hair and my scalp is usually the only part of my body that encounters sunburn. I was so thankful to be able to have a beautiful, stylish floppy hat to keep me from burning! Not only was my head protected, my neck, chest and shoulders were shaded from the sun's intense rays, as well! Everyone thought the hat was especially adorable... especially me!
