As the weather begins to warm up, I am wanting to spend as much time as possible outside. One of the best things about our little craftsman bungalow, is that it has a fantastic, wide front porch. The front porch is one of my favorite elements of a home- it's a perfect place to welcome guests, entertain, and spend time alone, or as a family. We've been wanting to spruce up our porch this spring with a little makeover, and thought that a good place to start, would be by adding some colorful, functional accessories.

I spend a lot of time out on the front porch with my son. He loves to be outside as much as I do, and we enjoy everything from sitting on the wooden bench and reading to blowing bubbles and having a picnic lunch together. Our teak wooden storage bench has been wonderful, both as a storage piece and a seating area, however, its hard surface isn't the most comfortable to sit on for long periods of time. I thought that adding a cushion would be a great idea, not just for comfort, but for safety and an added decor element, as well.

I stumbled upon Pillow Perfect, a Georgia based company which offers beautiful collections of pillows and cushions for indoor/outdoor use. Pillow Perfect opened its doors in 1989 by brothers Paul and David Ratner. Pillow Perfect has seen tremendous growth and has been through quite a few expansions in the past twenty-five years. In 2011, Pillow Perfect launched an online store, offering their customers the option of convenient shopping and friendly customer service from the comfort of their own homes!

Boxin Design in Green...

I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to try a couple of products from Pillow Perfect, and I enthusiastically poured over their website, selecting favorite designs. I selected both a bench cushion and set of pillows in the Boxin design, in green.

I was so excited when my packages arrived from Pillow Perfect. The bench cushion and the pillows were packaged in two separate boxes, and I was warned not to cut through the packing tape with a sharp object, so I wouldn't slice through the products.

The Outdoor Boxin Bench Cushion in green is stunning! I chose the green color in this pattern for three reasons- we love green, we tend to plant a lot of yellow and purple flowers, and thought the green would be a nice accent, and I knew my husband would love the Boxin design, as it looks sort of Celtic, which he likes.

I couldn't wait to get the cushion on our bench to see what it would look like, but I wanted to take a look at the matching pillows that were sent to me, as well!

Outdoor Boxin Rectangular Throw Pillow in Green, Set of two

The outdoor throw pillows are actually much larger and even more plush than I imagined them to be, which is wonderful! I love that they are rectangular in shape, and that they are plush, yet firm, and offer a good amount of support to the back. The cording around  the pillows is also a nice extra touch!

Take a look at the pillows and the bench cushion, side by side. A lovely combination!

I knew that I would have no problem tying the bench cushion onto the bench. Each end of the cushion has sewn-on ties, which just tie right onto the corner posts of the bench. The size of the bench cushion was a perfect fit, as well. I did measure the top of my bench beforehand, though- just to make sure that the bench wouldn't hang over the sides or end up being too deep or wide for the piece of furniture. After I added the cushion, I added both of the pillows, and then stepped by to admire the bench.

Of course, we had to try these new pieces out to really get a sense of how wonderful they really are. B and I took to the porch, and as soon as B saw the cushion, he asked if he could sit on it. Once he was on the bench, he commented on how nice the cushion was, told me that it was very soft on his bottom, and asked, 'Shall you sit here, mommy?'

Loving the new look and feel of our bench- it's so pretty and so comfy!

Balian loves the new cushion and pillows, too! Now he can sit here comfortably, and I don't have to worry about him banging his knees into the wood.


It's amazing how something as simple as adding a cushion and a couple of pillows to a piece of outdoor furniture can change not only the look of the furniture, but the look of your entire outdoor living space. The great thing about these pieces is that they are protected from fading, they are weather and water resistant, they are mildew resistant, and I can spot clean them, if needed.

Pillow Perfect offers so many contemporary and traditional designs of indoor/outdoor pillows and cushions, which are truly beautiful! I have been looking for cushions and pillows for a couple of years now, with no luck, because everything I have come across has been too tacky for my personal taste, and I refused to settle for something that would make me feel like I was hanging out in the living room set of The Golden Girls.

Our family members have been enjoying our new cushion and pillows which are now decorating our bench. It's a favorite spot to sit and visit, or to enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings or a cup of morning coffee. It's even the perfect spot to sit and enjoy some ice cream from one of our favorite local dairy bars! We're so glad to have a comfy, cozy place to enjoy the outdoors as a family. Now we'll have to purchase some new furniture for the left side of our porch, to make an entire seating area... and we'll have to get some more pillows and cushions from Pillow Perfect!
