Just Think Toys: Water Blocks (Review & Giveaway)

'Bath time, bath time... who doesn't love bath time?' I walk around singing this little song from the popular kid's program 'The Cat in the Hat Knows a lot About That!' pretty often. The truth of the matter is that though this song is catchy, and cute, I don't always love bath time. Balian, however, is a super lover of bath time! I think he runs his mac and cheese caked hands through his hair on purpose in the middle of the day, every now and then! I love to see how happy bath time makes my son, but if he isn't fully entertained while in the tub, he isn't happy for very long- and entertaining an irritable 18 month old isn't always the easiest job in the world.

Just Think Toys: Water Blocks Ball Run Set

I recently came across Just Think Toys, a company offering really neat toys that will challenge and keep children entertained while in the tub. I was in contact with Doug Mackey from Just Think Toys, and he sent us two samples of Water Blocks to try out! We received a  20 pc Seaport Set, and a 21 pc Ball Run Set.

21 Pc Ball Run Set
Ages 3-99

Before we began to play with the Water Blocks, I wanted to do a little reading up on them. Water Blocks are intended for ages 3 or 4 (depending on which set it is)-99! They're fun for everyone! The main reason why they're not 'safe' for Balian's age, which is 18 months, is that some of the block sets contain small parts, which are a choking hazard. I wanted to let Balian play with the Water Blocks, with complete supervision, so I removed all of the small parts from the set, and then let him play with select, larger pieces. The Water Blocks are really cool- they are soft, foam-like blocks that act like magnets, when wet. They stick the the walls of the tub, and they also stick to each other. They have soft edges, and they won't scratch the tub, tile or household surfaces. To maximize wall cling, you just moisten the block and the wall, press and rotate- and voila!

Our first experience with the Water Blocks in the tub.
They're so colorful, and fun to play with- even for mommy!

Balian loves his Water Blocks and enjoys sticking them to the tub walls!

We tested the Water Blocks in the tub. The Ball Run Set from Just Think Toys is so much fun! The set included 18 Bath/Water Blocks, a Ball and Pour Cup, an 11" x 8" Floating Play Base, and a Reusable Storage Bag. There are blocks included in the set of different shapes and sizes, as well as a sizable floating board- perfect for building upon. Balian and I made a run from some of the blocks, and created our own waterfalls with them. Balian loves to see running water, and really got a kick out of our 'waterfalls.' We also built floating towers and towns, etc. Balian loves to play with his blocks out of the tub, so it was no surprise that he took so well to the Water Blocks!

What I love about the Water Blocks is that I know they'll be around for a long time, and as Balian grows, these blocks will provide hours of endless fun and learning possibilities for him. By giving your child a set of Water Blocks, you are opening the door to creativity and exploration for them. Water Blocks provide progressive layers of challenge for children as they grow, and encourage exploration, reward discovery and empower!

We started building a run to use as a waterfall- the ball was only used for this photo. Balian is not allowed to play with the little ball.

Balian loves sticking the blocks to the walls, and created this masterpiece with mommy's help.

The water creates a sticky cling, which helps the blocks stick to each other and to surfaces. These blocks are also perfect for the pool this summer! I am excited, because Balian just got a new water table for Easter, and now he can play with his Water Blocks outside! Of course, you could play with the Water Blocks while they're dry- we did that before we played with them in the tub, but the bouyancy and flow of the water brings a whole new twist to the classic playing with blocks for the kids, and makes play time a sure adventure.

 Ball Run Extension Set...

You can mix and match sets of Water Blocks for endless imaginative play time! Adding extenders or sets will encourage kids to stick, think, stack, create, explore and learn! They can even be combined with regular blocks, outside of the tub. Moms and dads will love the fact that Water Blocks are mildew and bacteria resistant. Oh, yes! The 21 pc Ball Run Set came with a hanging block storage bag, which stays hanging in the tub. I just toss the wet blocks into the bag after bath time, and let them hang there and drip dry. They never get slimy, smelly or nasty... they're the only bath toys we have, which I am able to leave out like that, after a bath. Water Blocks are safe for kids, and they are pthalate-free! I love the Ball Run Set we received, and also the Seaport Set, which includes fun little water vehicles like a plane and a helicopter, along with blocks and a foam 'port'. This set will be perfect for us to share with Balain's cousin Connor!

 17 pc Coast Guard Set

This mom is giving the Water Blocks from Just Think Toys a thumbs up. I love how they encourage Balian to build, create, and 'try again' in the tub. Also, being the
'bath giver' isn't always my husband's favorite job, but since we've added the Water Blocks to our bath routine, he seems to enjoy it a little more. He and Balian can play together, and bond over creating fun designs in the tub! Water Blocks has also received Openheim's Gold Award! So, if you're looking for smart toys for your kids, look no further!

I think that any of the Water Blocks sets from Just Think Toys would make an excellent gift. My mother-in-law saw these at our house, and wanted to know where we got them, because her mother is always looking for blocks like these to give as gifts- or even just to have a set at her house for her grandson to play with. Grandparents, if you have grandchildren coming to spend some time with you this summer, invest in a set of these fun Water Blocks! Parents, if you're vacationing somewhere where there will be water... take a set of Water Blocks along with you! Have a family birthday coming up this summer? Go for a set of Water Blocks to give as a birthday gift- it'll be a welcomed, unexpected and super cool gift the kids will love! Oh- and you'll love the price! Water Blocks Sets from Just Think Toys range from about $10.00 - $20.00! Everyone loves gifts that won't break the bank!

  6. I love that they are safe AND creative. My son gets bored very easily with simple boats or letters/numbers in the tub. Interactive toys are definite winners for us!
