Featured Business Woman: Brittany Brownfield of Avon

Your Avon E-Rep, Brittany Brownfield

I’m a soon to be 25 year old housewife from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I live there with my wonderful husband Cory, and our dog Buddy. My husband and I have had a lot of struggles throughout our short 2.5 years of marriage, my husband was laid off just 2 short months after we got married, I quit my job to help him find a job. At the time we were living in Kansas, and got a call for my husband to relocate to Tulsa. We had a week to pack up our lives, find a home and move away from family and friends.

So, onward we trudged to a place we were vaguely familiar with. After living here for a few months, I was struggling to find myself, I didn’t have any friends and spent most of my days at home alone with the dog while my husband worked very long hours. Then my sister said, “Why don’t you start selling AVON?” And believe me, I was not looking to start up a company on my own. She continued to encourage me, and through prayer and encouragement from my husband, I decided to try it. Avon is the best thing that has happened to me.

It was so easy to start up, $10 and I got a huge pack of information and all the support and encouragement I needed to start my business. Also, being able to have my own website is great. I am an online junkie, and it gives me the tools to connect with people all over the world. I have made new found friends, and love my district manager. She is amazing, she calls and supports me, answers my questions, and lifts me up when I need it. I love being able to see what products are available and helping my customers decide what is right for them. I love makeup and perfumes, and would go to my local supermarket and spend so much money buying products that “claimed” to do something, only to be disappointed and out a lot of dough! Avon gives me the opportunity to try amazing products at affordable prices. Plus, I’m not going to suggest you try a product if I don’t think it’s worth it, and so far every product I've tried from AVON, I absolutely LOVE! My husband thinks I’m crazy because our dinning room table is covered in AVON supplies and orders. It’s so much fun getting that box full of goodies and working on an order, handing out samples and making someone happy! AVON is an amazing company for women and I am one happy woman!

Sick Babies Are No Fun!

Hey there and hello to all of our friends and family! It's been a while since our last post, but that is mainly due to to the fact that we have been very busy, and poor Balian has been sick with a nasty cold for about a week, now. It sure isn't fun when little babes are sick... since there really isn't much of anything you can do for them when they have a cold. B was only running a slight fever one day last week. He's mostly been very congested- hates the aspirator some of the time, and then sometimes he thinks it's a game! He bats at it when it comes toward him, and then when we finally get it to his nose, he just looks at us and smiles. Such a silly boy! Balian is growing so quickly that he's graduated up to his 6-9 mo jammies- can't believe he'll be 6 months old in just a couple of weeks. He's on his way to crawling and being quite the little trouble maker!

At the moment, I am trying to catch up on a few things between church responsibilities and my Celebrating Home business. Balian is having a marvelous time sitting in his swing, watching his Classical Baby DVD. Moms, if you haven't seen it, it is a definite must have for your LO's! Balian loves the music, and all of the colorful characters of the DVD. 'The Cow Song' happens to be his favorite... I'm not sure which he loves more, Puccini or the singing cow- I'm guessing the cow!

HBO's Classical Baby: The Music Show

Balian has also mastered saying 'da-da' this week. It's what we wake up to every morning, and we love to hear it! Balian will be getting his first big boy highchair next week from his G.G., so we're excited about that! The poor thing has pretty much been stuck at home since he became sick last week, so since he's feeling better today, we'll venture out to dinner at church this evening and then stay for the thirty minutes Vespers service. Last week, he babbled all through the service, so we'll see how it goes tonight! :)

For those of you who are wanting more and more giveaways, they're coming! I have a post to enter about a new contest I am running on my Facebook page, and there is a new Avon contest soon to come, so be on the lookout for those! These Are the Days...

Hopefully you are all becoming acquainted with the new look and feel of The Mommy Blog! There are many more giveaways to come, and some product reviews, too- so share this blog with all of your friends and tell them to get in on all of the great stuff The Mommy Blog has to offer!

Balian and I had a great day today! Well, it ended up great, but didn't start off that way. We're working through some serious teething... chomp, chomp, chomp! My dad so accurately appointed Balian's nickname as 'Chompy' or 'Chomps.' Balian woke us up at 5:30 this morning with what seemed like no hope for going back to sleep any time soon. We've been having rough nights lately! I told Sacha that I was not about to get up with Balian and be up for the day at 5:30... just wasn't happening! So... my wonderful hubby so kindly took Balian out to the living room, walked around with him, watched television, etc until he fell asleep. The little babe slept in his swing until a little after 8:00. I stayed in bed the entire time! I had the bed to myself for the first time since Balian's birth and it was AWESOME! Those couple of sweet, uninterrupted hours felt like the best sleep of my life! After everyone was up, dressed, fed, and so on, Sacha left for work, and Balian and I went about our day- playing, laughing, doing a few things around the house, making a couple of phone calls, napping, eating, napping, eating...

Sacha brought some yummy Japanese food home for an early dinner while Balian was on the tail-end of his late afternoon nap. After dinner, Sacha headed to church for the Lenten service and choir rehearsal. I was determined that Balian was going to sleep in his crib. Tonight would be the night! At 6:00, I fed him rice cereal and pears. He's not quite into the pears without the cereal just yet... we'll keep at it. He ate the entire bowl I had prepared for him! He's so good when it comes to eating solids (so far!). I make silly noises when I load up the spoon and he opens his mouth as soon as he hears me. Something struck him particularly funny during the last few bites, and we had a ten minute giggle fest. I LOVE those! After that, we played, he played in his Bounce Bounce Jungle Baby chair while I closed out a Celebrating Home party over the phone, and then it was time for the bedtime routine. At 7:00, he had a very fun, splishy-splashy bath, followed by some time to air out... diaper free (aren't I brave!?), then we got him into his jammies, sang some silly songs, had lot's of kisses, sat down to nurse and then he fell asleep around 8:30. I placed him very gently in his crib- it's 10:15, he's still in there and hasn't woken up once yet. Sacha and I are in our own room... with no baby in here and it feels completely strange. It'll take some getting used to, and I'm sure he'll wind up back in here with us after one of his early morning feedings, but that's okay. Balian usually wakes up EVERY time I put him in his crib, so this is a huge step! :) I'll let you know how our night ends up going!

And now- just to tide you over until the next post, here are a few pictures for your enjoyment!

B- fell asleep while eating his lunch today!

 Mommy's big boy!

Chillin' out max and realxin' all cool!
