Once in a blue moon, I come across a company so unique, I feel like I have to share it with everyone I know. This is my story of working with one of those very companies. I think I've shared with you all how much I enjoy wearing jewelry. I have just started to wear necklaces again, since Balian is a little older and is starting to learn the meaning of the word 'no.' Example, 'Balian, no! No pulling mommy's necklace!'

I do have a lot of jewelry, and after a while, it all sort of starts to look the same. I have so many sets of things to match certain outfits, but I always end up wearing my key go-to pieces of jewelry, because they're simple, classic and classy, plus- they can be dressy or casual, depending on what else I'm wearing. So, if I'm going to wear the same jewelry over and over again, why not wear a piece I truly love and enjoy?

I was recently given the opportunity to review some pieces of jewelry from Imprecious, a highly unique custom jewelry company. Imprecious captures the imprints of your loved ones (fingers or toes... or even the paw prints of your pet!) and turns them into beautiful fine silver pieces of jewelry! To try this out for myself, Robin Foley (of Imprecious) sent me a print capture kit, and she also sent me two finished necklaces to review.

I was so excited to have the chance to see this unique style of jewelry firsthand, and to be able to experience the process of capturing a print, myself! I anxiously awaited the jewelry and the print capture kit to arrive, and when it did, I called my husband over to inspect the jewelry with me. We looked it over, and then opened up the print capture kit. Now, stick with me... I'm going to go through the process of capturing the prints with you.

First off, I read the instructions, and I had Sacha (my hubby) read them, too. I tend to skip over things sometimes, and I wanted to make sure that we did this correctly. The instructions really are simple, and the capture kit makes it really easy to get the imprint the very first time you try. There are two different ways to capture the print. The first is with a sort of putty or clay that you roll together, making a ball. You simply press your finger into it, and it will retain your fingerprint. If you are trying to capture your child's print, it is much easier (and recommended) to do their toe print, rather than fingerprint. Tiny fingers have less prominent print rings. So, we got Balian's toe print on the very first try. We then set the 'prints' to the side to let them alone for about thirty minutes. You need to make sure you get two good prints to make a single charm for your jewelry. If you need help, there's a great how-to video on the Imprecious website.

The second way to capture the print is to use the little blocks that come with the print capture kit. When heated to just the right temperature, these blocks create an exact mold of your finger. Sacha really wanted to test these out, so I let him have at it. You simply let these blocks sit in warm to hot water until you can roll them into smooth balls. He had to really work hard to get the temperature of the water right, though. It took several tries before we got a successful print captured. Reason being is that you have to act very quickly once you take the substance out of the water. Once you roll it, you need to get your impression in there while it's still pliable, or else it'll crack (which means it has cooled off too much, and you'll need to start over). The cool thing about this is that you can simple reuse it and start the process again by dropping it back into the water (again, at the correct temperature).

After we captured our prints, we put them inside of the empty putty containers, placed them back into the kit canister and placed it into the pre-paid envelope, ready to be sent back to Imprecious. It usually takes seven days or less for your creation to be completed and sent back to you!

I loved the samples that Robin sent me to try on and review. She sent me two different necklaces. The first was a simple silver chain with two silver charms- one large and one small. I loved the look and feel of this necklace. I felt like it was simple, yet made a statement... a very precious statement at that.

The second necklace was a little more whimsical. It included a single print charm, and added embellishments... a pearl bead and a hand-stamped name. I love silver and I love pearls, so for me, this is the ultimate combination of style and sentiment! I loved the chain on this one, too!

I am so pleased with the pieces I was able to review from Imprecious. I think this is absolutely the most unique jewelry I have ever seen, and I know it would make a beautiful gift for many occasions. There are so many different options with Imprecious.
