I don't know a woman out there (especially a mommy) who doesn't love a nice romantic evening with her husband every now and then. It seems like once you have a baby, romance is out the window. For me, it took a long time (much longer than I anticipated) took get back into a romantic mood. My poor husband was probably longing for any kind of remotely romantic glance from me for many weeks after Balian was born. So many things factor into not feeling so sexy after having a sweet new bundle of joy enter your life. My body went through major changes (as does every woman's), I was recovering from an emergency C-section, emotions were swinging out of control, I was covered in breast milk and spit up 24/7, was lucky to get my teeth brushed by noon, etc. Having a baby really does change everything. It's no longer just the two of you, and trying to find time for romance seems nearly impossible.



Fast forward a year from giving birth, and things are sort of falling into a 'new normal' routine for us. I feel romantic every now and then, and on a good night, Balian sleeps heavily and romance is alive, once more! There are other nights, though, that are hairy and loud and our energy is drained, and all we can give each other is a few minutes of cuddling and talking, which is awesome, because communicating with each other is super important! So, when friend to The Mommy Blog Erin Brown (a Distributor with Pure Romance) contacted me and told me she'd like to send me a couple of items to review for our Holiday Gift Guide, I was thrilled, because our love life could certainly stand a little re-charging.

Erin is such a sweet girl. She knows that I am a little prudish (there's no better way to put it), so she sent me some sweet and romantic things to try out, with gift-giving in mind, as well. I received the Pure Romance Heart Massager Reusable Heat Pack and the Sensations Warming Massage Lubricant. I am loving both of these wonderful products, so far!

The Heart Massager is totally cool! It's actually in the shape of a heart, which I think is really cute and sweet. It's a plastic heat pack, filled with a special pink liquid that crystalizes! Here's how it works... there is a small metal disc located inside of the heat pack. To activate the heat pack, you simply flex the metal disc until crystals begin to form inside the heat pack. It happens super fast! I gave the disc one little click, and bam- instant heat! I kneaded the crystals a tiny bit to soften the heat pack, and that was it! I placed the heat pack between a pillow and my very sore back to test it out (you can only do so much to test these things when your hubby is at work!). It provided almost instant relief for my sore back! I can't wait to try it out when I'm cramping in a couple of weeks (lol!). Seriously, though- there's no microwaving involved, no reheating or anything! This heat pack stays warm until you are finished using it. It can reach up to 129 degrees, so be sure to test it on a small area of skin before directly applying the entire thing to a larger area.

Our wedding anniversary is coming up next weekend and we have plans to go see The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I, have a nice romantic dinner at The Melting Pot, and then return home for a baby-free evening. I can't wait to surprise my sweetie with a nice, warm massage, using the Heart Massager Reusable Heat Pack from Pure Romance!

When you're all finished using the heat pack, it's really simple to reactivate it. Boil a small pot of water and place a cloth over it. Gently lay the heat pack on top of the cloth, so it sinks into the boiling water. Let it boil for ten to twelve minutes or until all of the crystals are gone. The reason you want to use the cloth is that if the plastic directly touches the metal pot, it's going to melt. Remove the heat pack after the crystals are gone, and then let it cool to room temperature before using it again.

 I used one of my baking 'flour' cloths to place 
between the Heart Massager and the pot. 
Took about 8 minutes to return to its original state...

What I really love about this is that I can keep it right on my night stand... ready for anything, be it a steamy evening or heat needed for a body ache! I don't have to bother getting up to run to heat it in the microwave (you cannot put this in the microwave, by the way- don't do it!), and I can take it with me anywhere! I'll definitely be putting this Heart Massager in my travel bag when we go on trips, now! Tulsa, here we come!



The other item that Erin sent to me was the Sensations Warming Lubricant in Pumpkin Latte. I decided to test this out on my arm. It's a nice, gentle lubricant... it's not too sticky, not goopy or thick and really smooths easily onto the skin. It's cool when you first apply it, and then when you touch the lubricated area, it becomes nice and tingly and warm. If you blow on the lubricated area, it delivers exciting heat!  You can use this lubricant for different things- like massage, love making and play time! I'll be excited to try it this out with my hubby for our anniversary. This lubricant is totally edible, too. Naturally, I tasted it... licked it off of my own arm. It's in a nice, yummy Pumpkin Latte flavor (which is my favorite seasonal coffee from Starbucks!), and available in other mouth-watering flavors, too! One bottle of this awesome aid can provide up to four months of use... depending on how randy you are. You can use this lubricant even if you've got the fancy sheets on your bed, because it won't stain them! Start with a dime sized amount, though- then add more as needed... this will reduce stickiness.
