Chocolate and the holiday season seem to go hand in hand. Whether we're filling stockings, baking or placing goodies into our Advent calendars, chocolate is everywhere this time of year. Chocolate is enjoyed by people of all ages- kids, adults, and even a certain thirteen-month-old I know seems to love chocolate! So there's no denying that chocolate makes a wonderful holiday gift! With so many options for chocolate out there, though, how do you know which brands and products to go with for your parties and gift-giving this time of year?

At our house, we are chocolate fiends... especially me! I love chocolate- chocolate bars, chocolate cake, brownies, ice cream, and even chocolate milk (makes a great snack!). I received the Dove Chocolate Discoveries Dark Chocolate Mousse Kit, which included two bars of Dove's Dark Chocolate, the Mousse Mix and a White Chocolate Smoothie Mix! Yum, yum, yum! Any chocolate lover would be drooling over this... are you!?
Dark Chocolate Mousse Kit and White Chocolate Smoothie Mix...
Let's start with the White Chocolate Smoothie Mix (because that's what I tried first!) Now, I am not that big a fan of white chocolate, and not totally a smoothie fan, either. However, this versatile smoothie mix from DCD said that I could spoon some of the mix into my coffee for added flavor, so I decided to try that. I brewed my regular unflavored coffee in the middle of the afternoon (some afternoons I just need a coffee break!) I simply poured my coffee into my favorite mug, and then added a few teaspoons of the White Chocolate Smoothie Mix from DCD. I gave it a tiny stir, added a splash of milk, and that was it! It was so delicious! I love flavored coffee and creamers, but don't normally buy them because of the extra expense. Now I have enough White Chocolate Smoothie Mix to last me several special coffee breaks!
Dove Chocolate Discoveries Frosty White Chocolate Smoothie Mix...
I could have very easily used the mix as directed to make yummy white chocolate smoothies, and I might be nice and do that for my husband, because he loves white chocolate. I would simply follow the simple instructions located on the back of the package, and in time time, I would have a delicious frosty treat ready to serve him! What I love about this and the other DCD Beverage Mixes is that you can easily make hot or cold drinks that you'd spend a small fortune on over time if you purchased them from a coffee house. The White Chocolate Smoothie Mix is just $18.00 for a pack of six mixes, which will yield twelve smoothies, or several special coffee drinks! Well worth the money spent!
DCD Dark Chocolate Mousse...
Next up on my review agenda was to make and taste the yummy Dark Chocolate Mousse from DCD. This was really fun to make. My husband and I love to cook together, but don't get to do it very often anymore, and this was a wonderful, quick dessert for us to whip up and enjoy together. We started with some heavy cream and the DCD Mousse Mix. We used our immersion blender to whip them together until it stiffened up a little bit. Next, we broke apart the dark chocolate squares from DCD and melted them in 20 second increments, until they were nice and melty and smooth. We folded the dark chocolate into the mousse, and then stuck it back into the fridge for just a few minutes. The end product was out of this world delicious! I love chocolate truffles- it's one of my favorite indulgences. When I tasted the DCD Mousse, it was like eating a tiny bowl full of the inside of a decadent chocolate truffle!

I was completely impressed by both of the DCD products that Janette sent to me, but I have to say that the Dark Chocolate Mousse was my favorite hands down! I am drooling thinking about it and how yummy it was! Really, it just melted on my tongue and left me wanting more, more, more! The mousse is absolutely wonderful all by itself, but you could also pipe it into DCD Chocolate Cups, spoon it into some phyllo shells, etc. There are so many amazing dessert treats you can make and serve up at your holiday parties with this mousse! It is so super easy to make, takes about eight minutes, tops, and your friends will think you slaved over it for hours! This would make a wonderful addition to your holiday meal, or you can just order some of the mixes to give as gifts this holiday season! The recipient won't soon forget this decadent gift!
