Dear Reader,
It is the last week of October. When the heck did this happen?
I feel like this our mantra this season. July & August were slower than molasses, but we are warp-speeding our way to the holiday season with the help of the flux capacitator while sitting in the Dolorean watching the days rapid fire away.
I had grand allures for October. I was going to go in all things fall. Festivals, baking, Halloween shows. Yet, hardly any of it materialized. And that's okay.
No matter whether you are dealing with a season of grief in your life or the kiddo's calendars have you wondering if you can disappear into Caspar's basement for a while, there is still "some" time left to celebrate October.
1) Watch your favorite Halloween Movie. Hocus Pocus, Caspar, Practical Magic and the likes are all on one of your favorite streaming stations. Sit down, fold the laundry, and leave the dishes to later. Enjoy!
2) Find an easy baking recipe and do it. Don't worry about being elaborate. Is it creepy rice krispies? Peanut butter cookies that look like spiders? Sally's Baking Addiction has colorfun and fun recipes here.
3) Grab that PSL, girl. Ok, I admit, I have not had one at all this season. It's time.
4) Carve a pumpkin. This is the perfect week to do it because it's cooler AND its close to Halloween, so no worries about your pumpkin imploding on itself.
5) Check out your community. Last minute trunk-or-treats? Any under the stars movies playing?
Is your local cinema rehashing that 1930s 's version of Frankenstein or Dracula for the 95th anniversary? Go see it! Go check it out!
6) Most of all, have fun. If you want to stay at home in your comfy pj's sipping your mug of tea, go for it. If you want to have a halloween party, text up the neighbors and have a bash. Build a bonfire. Make a kids night with full size candy bars.
Whatever you may choose, I hope your October ends with a frightful bang! Just counteract some of that sugar with some water :)
