Today is National Ice Cream Cone day. The oldest type of ice-cream recorded was from Ancient China. Made with packed snow, rice, and milk, the sweet concotion changed textures, ingredients, and tastes over the centuries.
Ice cream cones made their way into existence in the early 19th centure as bakers and creators played with various types of batter to create cone shaped concoctions. Early 1800's parsian documents showcase rolled cones made from shaping batter as wonderful treats.
It wasn't until the 1904 St. Louis World's fair that cones truly became popularized.

Today, we have our choices:
- Waffle- made from waffle type batter shaped into a cone (or bowl)
- Sugar- straight flat brim in the shape of a cone
- Cake- lightly texturized wafer cone that is made to sit ice cream in the base
Each variation is unique as people have created different shapes, toppings (such as chocolate covered cones), and ways to hold their ice cream!
What is your favorite type of cone?
Do you even eat a cone or do you automatically go for the bowl now? It certainly is less mess!
