Meals Made Easy with Selefina Spiceblends

Thanks to Selefina for sending these spices over in exchange for this review. All thoughts are my own.

With this economy, most everyone is feeling the crunch. In an effort to spend less on-take out and actually eat the food in my freezer, I've been trying to cook different items at home. I love taking cooking classes but have never considered myself a great chef or meal-prepper.

Using Selefina spice and herb blends definitely makes it easier. Selefina is made specifically for me. Someone who wants to be in the kitchen but isn't the authority on flavoring. Someone who can do things, but isn't a professional. Someone who likes creativity and flavor, but is hesitant to create her own blends for fear of messing up flavor profiles.

If that sounds like you, then Selefina has spices and herbs for you too.

Selefina spices are also sourced so that pricing and freshness are on par for your experience. Passing up the middlemen, Selefina isn't available in stores, but it certainly offers a great bang for buck.

I was given a $35 giftcard to try out, so I got a variety of things. One of the things I do like about Selefina is that they offer "Try- Me" portions. These are perfect for that one-time recipe you want to test out but aren't sure if you want a whole jar sitting in your cabinent for the next 2 yrs.

They also a variety of sizing to suit your baking and cooking needs.

Need a sample? Get the "Try-Me" Size.

Want a slightly larger value? Grab a 1.5 oz pinch jar.

Something that's a staple but that you use during certain seasons or minimally? Find the 2 oz Shaker Jar.

Use a metric ton and want to replensih your supply? The Large refill might be what you need.

What do they offer?

  • Everyday single spices, herbs, & salts: your typical onions, garlics, peppers, cinnamons, etc.
  • Floral Blends & Citrus Blends and powders for those special creations. From drinks to desserts, things like hibiscus, citrus, and orange will have your concotions dinner party worthy.
  • Special blends and rubs, created specifically for the at-home chef in mind. These aren't collabs with professionals but rather with chefs who know what it means to cook at home. Chicken Love, Balinese Fusion, and more will have your taste buds on fire and make your cooking game on point.
  • Baking sugars, food colorings, and infusions such as maple sugar and pie spice will leve up your holiday treats.

What did I get?

  • Chicken Love- a great seasoning for all types of chicken! It can be used as a marinade along with seasoning before cooking.
  • Balinese Fusion Zest- I haven't tried this yet, but its supposed to be amazing in stir-fries. I've never had great success with those, so we will find out!
  • Italian Seasoning Silician Pinch Jar- I got the pinch jar because who doesn't like italian? Great for marinades, dressings, veggies, and even dipping spices for bread!
  • Portions (or Try-Me's) of the:
    • Hibiscus- hope to make a drink
    • Maple Sugar- fall donuts here we come!
    • Pumpkin Pie-  perhaps muffins (cause I'm not a big pumpkin pie person)
    • Mesa Verde Citrus Powder- potentially for salsa!
    • Ranch Seasoning- because who doesn't love a good ranch dressing. It's also great for chicken, veggies, potatoes, etc.!
    • Mulling Spice- as it gets cooler, I can't wait to try this. Not on these 90-100 days though!

What have I made?

So, I'll be honest and say that September has been a whirlwind. I haven't been cooking much beyond throwing stuff in the air fryer or making sandwiches/salads! Glad it's just my mouth I have to feed!

I have had a few ideas though:

I made a garlic chicken parmesean using this recipe. I did not pan sear mine, which probably would have made it better, but I did put it in the oven. Using the chicken love spice blend in both the breading and on the chicken, it was the perfect dish.

I added some smashed ranch potatoes with it, along with a salad and some veggies.

Using the italian citrus to make your own salad dressing is a definite must. I've never been much of a fan of store bought italian dressings as it's so overpowering. I think controlling my spice level and the flavors of the citrus and other herbs made this spectacular. I've used it several times since then too.

For a different meal, I added some italian seasoning to my steamed veggies for a tad bit of "oomph". While the description highlights the citrus, it's not in an overpowering type of way.

It's just a different flavor profile that brings out the sweet and zesty as the garlic, onion, and citrus all work together on top of your veggies.
