Spooky, Not Scary: A Family-Friendly Halloween Playlist

Halloween is one of our family’s favorite times of the year—pumpkin carving, costume fun, trick-or-treating, and of course, the music! There’s just something about turning on a fun playlist while decorating the house, baking spooky treats, or hosting a family Halloween party.

But if you’re like me, finding songs that are spooky but still safe for little ears can be a challenge. That’s why I’ve put together this Family-Friendly Halloween Playlist—a mix of fun, not-too-spooky tunes that everyone from toddlers to teens (and parents!) can enjoy.

So grab your favorite fall drink, turn up the volume, and let’s get the spooky vibes going—family style!

Tips for a Fun Family Halloween Music Night

  • Host a mini dance party: Clear a space in the living room and let the kids show off their spooky moves!

  • Have a “Spooky Freeze Dance” game: Play music and stop it at random—whoever moves during the pause is “out.”

  • Pair it with activities: Carve pumpkins, decorate cookies, or have a costume parade while your playlist plays in the background.
