Travel doesn’t always mean boarding a plane or packing for a long road trip. Sometimes the best memories are made just a town over. This weekend, my family and I are heading to Fun on the Farm at Denton Farm Park in Denton, NC.  A short drive, but one that feels like an adventure all the same.

At 38 weeks pregnant, it may be our last outing as a family of three before baby number two arrives, and I can’t wait to see the joy on our almost two-year-old’s face. The event has everything that makes fall magical for little ones like live music, vendors, inflatables, face painting, train rides, a petting zoo, and even trick-or-treating to end the day. It’s low-cost, local, and full of opportunities for connection.

These simple day trips remind me that fulfilling family experiences don’t have to come with a big price tag or a long itinerary. Sometimes a short drive, a cozy sweater, and a new adventure together are all it takes to create lasting memories, the kind that become cherished family traditions for years to come.

Denton Farm Park is located in Denton, N.C.  The event Fun on the Farm is happening this Saturday October 25th from 10am-4:30pm.  Trick-or-treating is from 5pm-6:30pm.  Train Rides are cash only on Saturday from 10-4:30, $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-11.  Preschoolers are free.  Night train at 7:30 with prices the same.
