Easy Slow Cooker Fried Apples

September always feels like the unofficial start of apple season. Between the cooler mornings, the first signs of leaves changing, and the inevitable trip to the orchard, my kitchen seems to be overflowing with apples this time of year. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

One of my favorite ways to use up a big basket of apples is by making Crockpot Fried Apples. This recipe is the definition of easy fall comfort food—you toss everything in the slow cooker, let it do its thing, and your whole house ends up smelling like a warm apple pie candle. Except, you actually get to eat it.

Crockpot Fried Apples Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8–10 medium apples (peeled, cored, and sliced) – I like Honeycrisp or Gala, but use whatever you brought home from the orchard!

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

  • A splash of lemon juice (to keep them bright and add a little zing)

Directions:

  1. Toss your apple slices into the crockpot.

  2. Sprinkle in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  3. Add a splash of lemon juice, then dot the top with butter.

  4. Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours, stirring once or twice until the apples are tender and caramelized.

That’s it! The apples get soft, buttery, and coated in the most amazing spiced syrup.

How to Enjoy Crockpot Fried Apples

This recipe is so versatile that I usually make a big batch and use it a few different ways throughout the week:

  • As a pastry filling – spoon them into hand pies or turnovers.

  • Warm with vanilla ice cream – it’s basically shortcut apple pie à la mode.

  • Blended into applesauce – just pop them in the blender and you’ve got spiced applesauce for snacks or school lunches.

  • Topped on pancakes or waffles – because breakfast deserves to taste like fall, too.

  • Straight from the crockpot – no shame in eating them by the bowlful.

Fall in a Crockpot

There’s something about the smell of apples, butter, and cinnamon wafting through the house that just feels like fall magic. It’s cozy, simple, and makes the most of that apple orchard haul before those beauties start to soften on the counter.

So if you’re staring at a basket of apples wondering what to do with them—this is your sign. Dust off your slow cooker and let it turn those apples into the sweetest September treat.
