I am preparing for our youth group mission trip that departs tomorrow (Saturday). While we don't have many students going this year, we still need all the snacks for the road trip and for our week in between work. We will be sleeping at a church, so we will have kitchen and dining access, with provided food, but its still good to take things we know we will eat with us!

So this made me think about summer road trips. Growing up, we always took snacks, had a cooler of sandwiches, and stopped at picnic shelters or rest areas along the way. As a young adult, I often just would stop for things when I got gas, not really taking much with me.

As an adult (even without other people in the car), I have a tendency to take things from home now, if I have something available. Maybe a PBJ, protein bar, chocolates, etc.. and even taking my own drinks instead of buying the $4 soda at the convenience store. I don't always do this, and it depends on what I have in my household. 

To be honest, with the amount I spent on 4 people in Sam's Club this morning, I'm not sure it's any cheaper to stock on up snacks versus stopping for quick meals, as each person has different tastes, but it would certainly be for a family, especially with younger kids that only eat certain things! 

Right now, I'll be gone basically for 3 weeks in a row, so I don't have a huge stash to choose from, but you bet I still have my coke zeros with me!
