Yesterday was one of those great days. You know the type... the sun is shining and it's not too hot or humid. You can wear shorts and be comfortable all day, and staying indoors just feels wrong because it's so beautiful outside.
Tuesdays and (sometimes) Wednesdays are a little less busy for me regarding where I have to be and when. Most days, I am up and working by five o'clock. I'm just an early riser- always have been. My mind is fresh and rested from what might have been a good night's sleep, and I am ready to work first thing in the morning. Once two o'clock in the afternoon rolls around, my productivity level starts to decrease. When you know things about yourself, you do what works for you and let those around you adapt. I aim to work for four hours in the early morning, and then take a break to spend some quality time with my youngest, who is home with me during the day.
Time for some fun in the sun at our local park.
When the weather is nice, C and I like to spend time outside. We're blessed to have a fairly large yard and lots of garden space. We have a sizable patio, and love spending time out there together. We live just across the street from a park, and love getting an opportunity to play on a nice day. So yesterday, we gathered our things and headed to the park for some playtime. My girl climbed and climbed the morning away, until it was time to head to the store. Our local ALDI had adorable children's potting benches in their weekly ad, and I just had to swing by there to buy one before they sold out. It turned out to be a wonderful purchase. C absolutely loves playing with the potting bench!
Time to check on our plants.
We checked on our raised garden beds, and our flower beds, as well as the trees and shrubs we recently planted. We have a lot of new plantings on our property this spring, requiring extra care and attention. My girls bought a strawberry plant over the weekend, which is already bearing fruit. It's part of their daily responsibilities to check on their plant and make sure it has enough water, etc.
Taking a rest with the honey bees in our clover patch.
We intentionally leave patches of clover in our yard for the bunnies, and the honey bees. We want the bees to be around to pollinate our plants, so we do our best to make sure they have food and water available. We have little water stations set up around our yard for the birds and the bees. They absolutely love it, and C helps me fill them with fresh water every morning. We make sure there are little pebbles and stones in the water dishes for the bees to land on, so they can drink. It's such a fun and hands-on learning experience for C. I love spending this time with her, just as I have loved spending one on one time with each of my children at that age.
Spring is one of my favorite seasons. Everything springs back to life after a long and quiet winter, and I love being able to work from home to see it all unfold. More than that, I love having four incredibly special people I get to share it all with.
How are you soaking up all that springtime has to offer?
