My family isn’t originally from North Carolina. My dad grew up in West Virginia, and my mom grew up in Kentucky and most of our family still lives in that area. So growing up in North Carolina, it was just us, our family unit of four. However, family is something of great importance, and so we would spend at least one weekend a month of my childhood driving back and seeing my grandparents. With the rise of social media, it made it easier to keep in touch with family and friends from different states. However, some of the older members of my family still do not have social media or a smartphone. When we get together on holidays, I give updated pictures telling stories of how my kiddo is doing and growing.
