The Sea Hides a Seahorse

Thank you to The Trina Kaye Organization for providing me with The Sea Hide a Seahorse for review. All opinions are 100% my own.

I'll never forget the first time we took my then 2-year-old daughter to the aquarium. She was so excited to see all of the fish and sharks, but one animal that quickly became a favorite was the seahorse. She loved how they held on to the plants in their tank with their tails and hid. It quickly became a game to see how many hiding seahorses she could find.

If you are looking for an informative and interactive book about sea life for your own mermaid or sea loving,

kiddo, look no further than The Sea Hides a Seahorse. This beautifully illustrated book full of bright colors and in-depth sketches, immerses the reader in an

under-the-sea adventure. Unlike the name, suggests, there is more to this book, than just seahorses. This book

takes a deep dive into lots of various sea creatures from an eel to an octopus and even a parrot fish. On these pages

of other sea animals, a seahorse is skillfully hidden in the illustration, my little mermaid had a wonderful time

trying to find each of the hidden seahorses on every page.

If your kiddo really loves seahorses and wants to learn more about them, this book is an excellent source of

knowledge! Even after the illustrated story the back three pages include more in-depth facts about seahorses,

things you can do to help Seahorses, places to find resources about Seahorses, and even a note about public

aquariums.

Due to its informational nature, I would definitely recommend this book for students in elementary school and beyond. However, my little three-year-old mermaid loved all the brilliant colors and the interactive parts of the book but the information was just too advanced for her. As an adult, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different characteristics of Seahorses as they have always interested me. (Letting the dads carry the babies... that sounded like a pretty good idea around month 8 of pregnancy.)

There are some themes and science ideas that kiddos may have questions about. The book does discuss topics such as: courting, mating, bulging (putting the fertilized eggs in the male seahorse’s pouch), and hatching of seahorses. Have no fear though parents! There are pages in the back of the book including the “More about Seahorses” page, which gives an excellent knowledge base to pull from for an answer, if these questions occur.

Want it? Get it!

This book would be an amazing Christmas gift for your own little mermaid, pirate, or aspiring marine biologist!!

You can order this book through Barnes and Nobles or Amazon. If you like to shop local, check with your hometown bookstores for copies!
