Physical Activities That Will Entertain your High-Energy Kids

If you want to entertain your kids, then you have come to the right place. This guide will show you what steps you can take to entertain your high-energy kids, so you can give them a positive outlet while supporting their mental health.

Turn The Music Up

One thing you can do is turn the music up. Play your favorite songs and dance to the beat. Moving to music helps your child to practice different skills, such as self-regulation. Try mirror dancing with them, so you can be their reflection. You can also try out some new moves here to see if they copy. The great thing about doing this is that it helps them to develop their coordination, and it’s a great bonding activity.

Set up an Obstacle Course

Another thing you can do is try and give your child the chance to partake in an obstacle course. See how many activities they can complete, such as hopping down the hallway or even tiptoeing. Use pillows, laundry baskets and other items that may be around the home if you want to boost how fun this can be. Toddlers may be interested in following you around the obstacle course, rather than following instructions you might be able to give them. Either way, this is a great way for you to keep your child engaged and it is a great physical outlet for them.

Scavenger Hunting

Make a checklist of simple pictures or words, so your child can find them around the home. It may be that you get two red books, two tables and one black shoe. Help your child to cross off each item as they find it so that it helps to keep them focused. If you have an older child then create a hunt that is based on shapes, or colors. The best thing about doing this is that it helps them to learn while being on the go.

Sock Ball

Don’t have a ball lying around? Why not use a sock ball instead? Roll up some old socks and gather a few cardboard boxes. You can then assign a point value to each one, so your child can see how high they can score. Older kids may love to see how far away they can stand, and younger kids may like to use different-colored socks to see if they can get them in the basket. Little things like this are great if you want to help your kids take part in family bonding activities.

Sign up with a Club

If your kids are high-energy then one thing you can do is sign up with a club. The

South Shore Gymnastics Academy is a great choice here and you would be surprised at how much your kids could learn by simply attending. If you have never given much thought to them attending gymnastics before then you should look into it, as they will learn skills that will stick with them for the rest of their lives, and it is a fantastic way for them to meet new friends along the way.

Stuffed Animal Hide and Seek

Take turns in hiding a stuffed animal or even a wooden object. As your child locks for them, offer clues that may help them practice things such as directions. Turn left, walk two huge steps and even look under the rug are all great here.  The best thing about activities like this is that you can begin them any time and they don't require much setup time, so if you know that your kids are racing to go, it doesn’t take long to get them set up with this activity.

Tightrope Walking

Lay a piece of string or even some tape on the floor and ask your kids to walk along it. Have your kids pretend to walk on it as if it is a tightrope, with one foot in front of the other. This will help them with their physical coordination and it will also give them the chance to practice doing things slow and controlled. Of course, you can set up this activity in a matter of seconds, not to mention that you can do it anywhere too, so be mindful of that. If you have never thought about this before then give it a go and see how much fun your kids have with it. You can also try and draw a chalk hopscotch on the ground outside if you want to give them more ways of having fun, so keep that in mind.
