The Top Five Things I am Packing for My Train Ride to New York City

I am headed to New York City tomorrow via a 12-hour train ride! These are my top five items to pack for my long-distance train ride.

* My photo ID - Gotta prove I am who I say I am to anyone that needs to know!

Chargers for my electronics (and the electronics too) - It is important not to go on vacation without these! Gotta keep all the electronics charged. (For me that will be my phone and headphones chargers)

* My Shokz's OpenRun Pro Bone Conduction Ear Headphones - I don't leave the house without these! I love that I can listen to my music, podcast, movies, etc. but am still able to hear announcements that will be made on the train.

* Comfortable shoes for walking around the train - I will probably wear my Tevas but also bring some socks along in case my feet get cold. No, I will not wear socks and Tevas at the same time! I may even pack some comfy walking shoes to change into for when I get off the train and need to walk a lot.

* SnacksBring your own food on the train especially if you want to eat healthy. You are allowed to bring a small cooler or insulated lunch bag with you on the train to include refrigerated foods.

If you’re planning to pack food at home before your trip, here are some ideas:

  • Salty: nuts, chips, crackers, pretzels
  • Cereal that is easy to eat dry
  • Protein: Cheese sticks, jerky, beef or turkey snack sticks or bites, peanut butter, hummus, edamame
  • Fruit: Apples, bananas, oranges or tangerines, applesauce pouches, avocado
  • Veggies: Carrots, celery, cucumber, sliced bell pepper
  • Sweets: Chocolate, candy, cookies
With these five items, I know my ride on Amtrak will be a comfortable and lovely trip.

Blessings,
