5 Bible Verses to Encourage Your Child This School Year

All around the country, kiddos and their families are prepping to head back to school (if not back to school already). My kids started back this week, and are in an entirely new school. It's a big change for both, as one started middle school, and the other started full-day school. An adjustment, yes- for them, and for me. I sure do miss my kids when they're gone all day. I have a lot to keep me busy (sweet Baby C takes care of that!), but my older kids are always on my mind, leaving me wondering if they're happy, safe, feel loved, confident, and secure. I have to trust that they're okay, and reading my bible and reflecting on the Word helps me feel confident in our decision to change schools.

My middle babe was in tears before school this morning for the first time. Goodness, it hurt my momma heart to see her carrying worry and sadness. I asked her if anything happened at school yesterday to make her feel sad or afraid. She told me 'no' and that she just missed me too much during the day, and that the work was hard. We talked and hugged, and I sent her on her way this morning, just praying that she would know how loved she is, and what a wonderful student she is. We talked about how God and her family, as well as past teachers, have equipped her with the knowledge needed to start the year off strong. Then I got to thinking about scripture, and how if it helps me feel strong and confident, it would likely do the same for my hurting child.

I found a few bible verses that align well with the beginning of a new school year and wanted to share those with you today. Bibles of different versions may vary slightly, but all carry the same meaning. Perhaps these will speak to you or your child. We're going to place these in our home and use them to guide us throughout the year.

5 Bible Verses to Encourage
Your Child this School Year

Be determined and confident. Do not be afraid of them. Your God Himself will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.
-Deuteronomy 31:6

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plan will succeed.
-Proverbs 16:3

Trust in the Lord with all your heart.
-Proverbs 3:6

I will walk by faith even when I cannot see.
-2 Corinthians 5:7

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
-Philippians 4:13

These are verses I love, and ones that can easily be remembered by small children. During these first few weeks back to school, I'm going to share one verse with my kids each week. My hope and prayer is that these words from scripture will remind them that the Lord walks with them daily and that they do not face even a single task alone.
