What it really comes down to is perspective, isn't it? When my six-year-old daughter looks at the world, it is through magical unicorn glasses. Everything is coming up roses, all of the time. My eleven-year-old has experienced more 'life' than his younger sister, and he's a bit jaded. My husband and I are super-jaded and have an incredibly low tolerance for B.S. We're both very much 'it is what it is' type people at this stage in life. I'm not without my doom and gloom moments- Lord knows I have just lived through some of the worst days of my life recently, but my husband's perspective is always much brighter during those moments, and I am so thankful for that.
They say happiness is a choice, and the older I get, the more I tend to agree with that. Like most people, I've experienced trauma, have lost people I love, and have lived through some pretty crummy situations, but I choose to look toward the good things. I'm glad to have a unicorn child who points out the rainbows, pulls me alongside her to chase caterpillars, and revels in the mystery of butterflies. Perspective really is everything, isn't it?
Praying that you will find a way to choose happiness and find joy today and always!
