Home Office Ideas

With so many of us working from home these days, having a dedicated space that you can work from has become essential. Lots of us will not have the luxury of having a room that is solely dedicated to a workspace, so we have to make do with the dining room or the corner of the living room! Regardless of whether you have an entire room or area sectioned off, it is essential that your surroundings contribute to you being productive at work.

So, what changes can you make to your home to create a good working space without spending a fortune? Read on to find out for some tips on what you can do to make your office space somewhere you want to spend time at.

Create a Zone

If like many, free space at home is at a premium, try thinking outside the box. You can turn any area of a room into a small office space and if done correctly, it will not be too intrusive. Try matching your office furniture to the existing décor and furnishings of the room so that the new additions do not stand out too much.

You could also try and think about using any wasted space in your home such as under the stairs or a large landing area.

Get Organised

When you have finished your work for the day, the last thing you want to look at when trying to relax at home is the clutter that working from home can bring. When choosing an office desk, look at ones that have storage incorporated so that you can tidy everything away neatly at the end of the day. If you already have a desk that does not have storage, there are plenty of colourful, decorative storage boxes and baskets that you can pick up without spending too much.

Add Some Colour

A fresh lick of paint can do wonders to any room but by adding some colour to your space, you will make it more inviting and in turn, make it feel more intentional rather than feeling makeshift. Check out some of the fresh colours available at The Paint Shed

Try thinking about colours that will not only breath new life into the space but will help with your productivity. As the colour blue is said to stimulate the mind, consider choosing a hue from the blue colour palette to help you stay focussed.

Get Comfortable

If you are going to be sitting in front of the computer for long periods of time, you really need to make sure that you are not only comfortable, but you are sitting in the right position. If your chair is going to be in a shared space such as the hallway or living room, you also want to make sure that it ties in, as much as possible with the rest of the furniture.

Office chairs have come a long way from the traditional black swivel ones. These days, there are various colours and materials to choose from.

By getting you home office space organised and decorated to your own personal taste, not only will you enjoy it more, your space will be the envy of your colleagues on your next conference call!
