I have no idea how this was instilled in it (note- ask Mom next time I talk to her), but I have memories of us reading EVERYWHERE. We always had a book in our hands- at the Saturday Night Race Track, at the beach, visiting family, even tagging along when our father had his lawn service business. Through-out elementary school, we both competed in the school's reading Book-It Program (that motivation was definitely the pizza). Whatever the inspiration was, we both still love to read! My sister has tried to instill this passion in her own children and others as much as possible. Thus, we were very excited to review the new Magic Tree House Graphic Novel Series! Do you remember the Magic Treehouse series? This Chapter book series was created by Mary Pope Osbourne in the 90's. It took us on the marvelous adventures of Jack and Annie as they traveled the world. This could have been one of the reasons I've always loved to travel.. between this, the Baby Sitters Club, and other chapter books, my life was lived through fictional characters!

Well, the Magic Tree House Series is BACK. This time as Graphic Novels! 

The first Magic Tree House book, Dinosaurs Before Dark, has come to life as a graphic novel.  Adaptor Jenny Laird and twin sisters Kelly and Nichole Matthews have put an amazing spin on Mary Pope Osbourne's book and I'm sure your reader will love it too! 

This novel's graphics, story, and art will take your young reader on a journey that he/ she won't forget! Retelling the story of Jack and Annie, this novel is surely one you need for your child's bedtime stories! 

My nephew, age 7, practices reading comprehension at bedtime. He struggles to focus and gets easily frustrated with complex sentence structures and large chapter books. He prefers words to be simple in ways that he can understand. He definitely prefers the pictures in books more than the words themselves!

He absolutely LOVES this graphic novel! The words are easy for him practice reading out loud and understand. 

He is a reluctant reader despite his mom and his aunt's love for books. In fact, he is still making his way through this novel, but loves the pictures in it! This graphic novel paints a picture that his young brain can get into.. especially as he isn't able to focus on chapter books yet. 

The book itself has a great presentation. We received a quality hardback book with a jacket cover  that contained bright vibrant thick glossy paper. The Illustrations are excellent and captivating for our young audience as it certainly grabs their attention! 

Not only will your child practice their reading skills, they may learn something in the process, as this specific story also contains some facts hidden within the adventure! Graphic novels generally have less words as their focus is telling the story in pictures. This book contains great sight words with simple sentence structures over complicated lines found in story chapter books. 

If you are a chapter book fan, you might miss out on the details described in the books, but the graphics definitely brings this story to life! If your reader is younger, this is a great start to get them hooked on books.. perhaps as they get older, they may venture into Mary Pope Osbourne Magic Tree House Chapter books just like my sister and I did! 

This school year, start a wonderful new adventure with the Magic Tree House Graphic Novel Series. It will be a wonderful break at the end of the day and help keep your littles excited about reading!
