2021 has been hard yet, hasn't it? Rising tensions, individualism, anxieties, fear have crept in and distracted us from the One who gives us life. Even in the church world, leaders are worn down by best figuring out how to care for our communities, offering pastoral care, trying to do ministry together, in the midst of conflict and turmoil. It has been and continues to be a very hard year as decisions are made in the best interests of our children returning to school.

That is why I'm excited to attend a night full of beautiful worship later this month!

I think we all NEED to hear words of love, redemption, and reminders that we are beautiful children of God, no matter what the world throws at us. These reminders that we are God's, not the world's, are powerful images to cling onto when we feel we are being swallowed by the sinking pits of anxiety and despair.

While I know very little about Kari Jobe, I've fallen in love with her voice. The amazing vocals that God has blessed her with have touched my soul, especially in her rendition of "The Blessing."

Honestly, I first heard this song at Confirmation Camp just a few weeks ago. Sung by our camp worship leaders to remind our teens that they are baptized Children of God, this song immediately impacted me.

The beautiful lyrics remind me that God is always with us, never leaving us, or despairing us. God wants us to experience wonderful redeeming love. God wants us to experience hope. God wants us to live with light that shines so brightly that no darkness can overcome it.

God gives us hope, the light, the way to move forward. God's blessings shower us even when we fail to see them. God is gracious and good. God goes before us, behind us, and with us... every step we take.

These are words we all need to hear right now. We all are blessed by God. Every single moment of every single day, even when we feel like we can't move.

I hope that these words bring you peace. Bring you joy. Bring you, love. Bring you passion. Amen.
