It's the best time of the year.. holiday parties, dancing, twinkling lights, cold weather.. oh wait, it's July isn't it? 

Instead of those twinkling lights and hot chocolate, it's more like smores, long hot summer nights fireflies and shining stars! But, it's also Christmas in July! 

First celebrated at summer camp in 1933, Christmas in July is available to remind us of holiday cheer all year long! While we might long for those wistful moments near the fireplace and Chimney tree, we can instead celebrate by loving our friends, neighbors and family!

I celebrate Christmas in July by mixing up a cup of hot tea and sitting down to watch a sappy but favorite holiday movie.. and maybe sneak a few Hallmark ones in when I can. Something about the magic and cheer of these movies just uplifts my spirit!

For the kiddos, perhaps its time to break out the sugar and make some summer "Christmas" Rock Candy. It takes about a week to fully settle, so it's a perfect time to teach about paitence ..just like we do with the Elf on the Shelf and waiting for Santa to come!
