Beach Trips, Birthdays and Baby Showers- What a July!

How is it possible that we are nearing the end of July, friends? A month ago, my family and I were just coming back from Disney World, and here we are a month later, looking toward the start of the new school year. A lot has happened in the past four weeks, including a beach trip, a baby shower, and a visit with my sister. It's been a whirlwind month for us, and now it's time for us to really settle in and make sure that everyone is ready to head back to school and to make preparations for Baby C's arrival in a few short weeks.

Our beach trip was so needed and absolutely enjoyable. We spent a week with Sacha's mom and also his grandmother, and it's always a joy to be with them. While we were enjoying our time in Oak Island, NC, we experienced Tropical Storm Elsa, which blew through the area later in the week. The storm hit during the morning hours, and by the afternoon, the sun was out and we were able to venture to Southport for a little shopping and ice cream. The rest of the week was wishy-washy, as we had to stay out of the water due to the strong waves and rip current warnings. Still, we had a great week, and the kiddos played hard every day.

Once we returned home, we unpacked our bags and I started shifting gears toward a wonderful weekend visit with my sister, and my baby shower. It was doubly wonderful because my shower was hosted by my sis, and my best friend Veronica. Both of these amazing ladies are from out of state (Oklahoma and Georgia), and for them to make a special trip to NC just to celebrate this special occasion in our family's life brought so much joy and happiness to my soul.

We had a wonderful baby shower for Baby C. It really was lovely, and it was Covid-friendly, being a drive-thru or walk-up shower, held outdoors. While it was HOT for certain, loved ones and friends still showed up to shower us with their love. It was incredible to see friends and family that I have not seen in person for a very long time, including my sister-in-law and my niece.

Spending the weekend with my sister was wonderful. We never have enough time together when we see each other, and I always become super depressed when she leaves to go back home. We've lived in different states for nearly 15 years, but it's just one of those things that you never get used to. Luckily, she's just a phone call away and we chat often. Christmas can't come soon enough so we can be together again. While Britt was in town, we celebrated her birthday, which had taken place the week before the baby shower. We hardly ever get to celebrate her birthday in person, so it was a lot of fun to be able to do that. My kiddos especially loved getting to have cake with their Aunt Britt.

We also experienced our first time back in a movie theater since pre-Covid days. We took a big leap of faith going to the movies, and luckily, we nearly had the theater to ourselves. A great time was had by all.

Beanie got settled into her new bedroom, and now we're working on prepping her old room for Baby C's nursery. I'm washing and folding baby clothes, organizing diapers, and just getting everything ready for the baby that I can. I like to have everything ready to go about one month ahead of time, in case her arrival doesn't go according to plan.

I'm ordering school supplies, making sure our calendars are filled with school dates and all scheduled events for the fall season and looking at vacation plans for after Christmas. Oy! Can't believe summer break is drawing to a close. Just three weeks or so until B heads back to school and then Beanie will follow shortly after. I even booked B's birthday party for October, so that it is one less thing to worry about next month. If I'm over-prepared, I'll be much happier!

So there you have it! So much packed into a few short weeks, and the weeks following will be even busier! Wow, oh, wow!

How is your summer going? Has it been busy, or have you been able to enjoy a slower-paced summer? Drop me a comment and let me know!
