Over the course of the last year, I've compiled a short list of "chew-proof" toys that have withstood the jaws of my land shark, Fiona.

This is by no means an exhaustive list and if you have a favorite that is not on this short list, PLEASE comment! From one lover of a big chewer to another, we need all the help we can get.

If you know, you know. Most dog toys on the market are an enormous scam. They may be cute, quirky and even ironic, but ultimately they prove to be a waste of money. Once you realize how quickly your large breed dog shreds typical store bought toys, you start scouring the internet for durable dog toys. Hopefully, at some point you'll end up here! I can promise you that I have thrown away far too much money on dog toys that promise durability.

What I've found is that some dogs just do not have the desire to damage toys. They carry toys around and genuinely play in the way they are intended. Because of this, companies continue to make toys that are cute and fluffy. For many, this is fantastic! For Dobermans and other breeds in this category, this is laughable. While she does NOT damage furniture or shoes, she does make it her personal mission to demolish her toys. For this reason, I've had to do a ton of research and have finally come up with my top three companies for durable toys that can withstand a heavy chewer. 

I'll start with Pet Stages. You can find Pet Stages toys at Home Goods or Marshalls, but it's hit or miss. Amazon has Fiona's favorite toy to date:

The reason this toy is a family favorite? It doesn't squeak! However, it does crinkle. This crinkle effect makes it irresistible to dogs. Fiona has been chewing this toy for about three months and it has zero damage! For under $10, I recommend grabbing at least two of these carrots.

Next on the list is Chuckit!. This is probably a no brainer to most dog-lovers. Chuckit! balls are pretty much indestructible and a fan favorite for fetch-loving fur kids! Say that three times fast. Chuckit! products are in most pet stores and also available on Amazon. 

Last, but certainly not least as I do believe this company very well may make the MOST indestructible toy on the market, West Paw.

West Paw toys are made from a durable material that is dishwasher safe and non-toxic for your furry children. West Paw is my all-time favorite dog toy company in existence. I absolutely love everything about this company. My brother-in-law mentioned West Paw to me last year when I was at my wits end with my aggressive chewer. I was willing to give anything a try and was not disappointed. West Paw will replace a toy if it gets damaged. Their toys run around $15 but will last and are worth every penny. When you consider the money wasted buying countless $5 toys that end up in pieces on the floor, just go ahead and spend the extra. You'll be happy in the long run. 

Like I said, these three companies are my personal favorites and you may have a different one! I would love for you to share with us your "go to" toy for aggressive chewers. I hope this list has given you some ideas! When all else fails, bully sticks are always on standby.
