Getting Ready for Easter! & a Special Birthday!

With a chilly start to Easter weekend, we're making our preparations to celebrate the victorious day that is Easter Sunday. Today is Maundy Thursday, and while we normally go to church for communion and foot washing, we'll settle in at home tonight and remember the words that Jesus spoke to his disciples in the Upper Room.

Good Friday is traditionally the day when our family gathers at grandma's house to dye Easter eggs. We spend hours making beautifully decorated eggs for Easter Sunday. Some will be hidden for an egg hunt, some will be displayed for decoration, and others will be turned into festive deviled eggs for Easter lunch. We will share a meal together, and then head to church together for Good Friday service at church. We usually go out for ice cream afterward, but it's so cold here today that we might be opting for hot cocoa instead.

On Saturday, we'll spend the day cleaning the house, sprucing up the yard, and making food preparations. Beanie has already made some cute Easter bunny napkin rings, and we've been slowly decorating the house all week. After church on Sunday, our family bubble will gather for an Easter meal at our house, and will enjoy celebrating Bean's 5th birthday, which also falls on Easter Sunday this year. Our girl couldn't be more excited to get to celebrate her birthday on Easter! What a wonderful day it will be.

Most of all, we cannot wait to praise God for His goodness, and celebrate the risen Son on Sunday. Easter is such a special day, and being able to spend it together as a family this year is going to make it even better!

What are your plans for Easter weekend?
