He Scared The Poo Out Of Her!

I want to share something that happened to me a few nights ago. Since I work at a skilled nursing facility and Covid is still going strong, I have been socially distancing not only in public but also at home. My hubby and I are working different shifts right now, so I have been camping out on the couch for about a month now. I've been working two-day shifts and four evening shifts a week. Typically, I would sleep in the spare bedroom, but that has been turned into Christmas land, and I really don't want to disturb it at the moment, so couch it is!

We have a very large sectional that at least three full-sized adults can sleep on, and in my case, one adult and two pups! Sunday night, Cory had already gone to bed as he gets up a lot earlier than I do, and I was getting ready to go to be as well. I had just started to get sleepy when I heard the bedroom door open and realized Cory was coming out of the bedroom and into the living room. Now, he has sleep apnea and sleeps with a CPAP machine. When he gets up in the middle of the night, he just detaches the hose from his CPAP, does whatever he needs to, and goes back to bed.

Sunday night, however, he decided in the middle of the night to get up and get his boots from the shoe rack by the back door. While I had yet to fall asleep, the dogs were fast asleep. Cory came into the living room with his CPAP mask on and made enough noise to wake up the dogs. Diesel was not in the least bit interested in what was happening, but Luna, she was jolted awake and scared out of her little puppy mind! She freaked out, barking like I've never heard her bark before, all while the hairs on her back and neck stood at attention. She bolted off the couch, growling as she went over to Cory, he ended up taking his mask off to calm her down.

We were both laughing at her reaction, but then I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. There were spots all over my blanket, and at first, I thought it may have been a clump of dust off of the ceiling fan. As I got closer, I realized there was a weird, off-putting smell and I couldn't figure out why dust would smell like that? Once I got close enough to get a good look at my blanket, I realized that Cory had scared the literal poop out of Luna! I went from laughing hysterically to wanting to cry in a matter of seconds. It had been such a hectic day at work, and the last thing I wanted to do was clean up dog poop!

My hubs thought it was hilarious, but I wanted to kick everyone out of the house and get some sleep. It was the final straw to an exhausting day, but it really was a hilarious event. Now we know that Luna is scared to death of Cory's mask and we won't make that mistake again!
