Fall is one of my favorite seasons! Despite hating early endings to the day, I typically have more time to enjoy this wonderful season over others.  Outdoor Fires, Football tail-gate afternoons, crisp cooler air, and new harvest vegetables always get me in a great mood! Fall Harvest also brings forth so many types of foods like apples, pumpkins, rooted vegetables, soups, and chilis!

Whether returning from your apple-picking adventures or stocking up to make your favorite soup, these are the top five gadgets your kitchen needs to have this fall! Many of us probably already have these wonderful gadgets but might need an upgrade after years of use. Cookware does wear out and does need to be replaced, no matter how many times we tell ourselves we can keep reusing the peeler we love!

1) Apple Corer

A good apple corer saves you a lot of time and stress while making your baked goods and sauces! I have two types of apple corers. One is solely for coring the seeds while one is a corer/ slicer. Some people prefer a spiralizer peeler, but apartment living means space is a premium in my kitchen! Mind your fingers though- you don't want or need an emergency trip to suture your fingers! Whether you want to make apple butter, apple crisp, or stewed apples; this gadget will save your fingers, frustrations, and time! An investment worth having- perhaps even two, so smaller hands make work go light! 

2) Vegetable Peeler

Vegetable Peelers come in all sorts of shapes and sizes! The best type to keep around is an all purpose peeler, so that you can use it for all veggies all year long. But, sometimes with those tough skins of the fall, you might find yourself in need of a serrated edge to work on butternut or acorn squash. Don't forget to grab a peeler with an excellent grip cushion because after peeling all those apples, the last thing you need are blisters or callouses! (Trust me, I've been there.. it isn't fun!). Great for carrots, potatoes, fruits.. basically anything that needs a removed peel! 

3) Crock Pot

Programmable Crock Pots and Slow Cookers are a definite must for busy lives this fall! If you are still remote schooling/ work, the Crock Pot is an easy way to get lunch or dinner on the table. If you are back in your office and school buildings, fix up your recipe the night before and put it on slow cook before heading out the door! Crockpots are so versatile- not just for soup anymore! Programmable Crock-pots and digital timers ensure your food won't be overcooked when you get home! Also- some crock-pots come with stoneware that can be used in the oven and microwave too. Mine does and I love it- added bonus! 

4) Stoneware

Speaking of stoneware, this is a key element in my kitchen. Not necessarily a "gadget" but an important part of how meals are made because it too, is so versatile! Casserole Dishes, Pizza Stones, Baking Pans, and even Pie Dishes will help your foods cook evenly. Serving a lovely meal or hosting a small gathering? Stoneware can also be used as serving ware.. especially if glazed! Several of my favorites pieces are my stoneware casserole dish- used a lot for roasting chickens- and baking trays! 

5) Blenders

A good blender will make your life so much easier! This past birthday, I was gifted an awesome hot/cold blender (thanks to my sister!) because she knows I love to make my own sauces and soups! Using the Crockpot or a cast-iron is fine, but it's kind of amazing to be in a one stop shop and not have to worry about the mess. Yet, a traditional blender will do just fine. After all, I used one for years for all my soups, sauces, and drink mixing needs. I was often encouraged to get an immersion blender, but I never had the extra funds to spend, so settled transferring back and forth from the crockpot to a regular blender, using a funnel.  An immersion blender isn't all that expensive now and would save you from pouring anxieties! If you are going to go for it, do yourself a favor and look into the cordless ones! Blenders are great all year round too- from ice-cream starters to summer drink night, you will get your use out of this gadget! 

While I am positive we all have our go-to gadgets and cookware when making our favorite fall recipes, these are must-haves in your kitchen. You won't be disappointed if you own them!  Not only does my kitchen include these 5 gadgets, it includes many more fall favorites, such as a Pumpkin Shaped Dutch Oven and wonderful bread/cake pans!
