Some Trends Are Here To Stay

There's no denying that trends from different decades seem to come back around, and are once again trendy and have been reborn into a different decade. Some of these trends we probably wish would never see the light of day again, like teens thinking mullets are cool, no! Yet, some trends and fashion come back around and they're so comforting and nostalgic that you can't help but be excited to see them again! It's like a big, comforting hug from your childhood!

One thing that has seemed to power through decades, fading in and out of popularity is the Bean Bag Chair. I, for one, am so excited that these chairs have come back into style and popularity. See, as a child of the 90s, all I ever wanted was a Bean Bag Chair. All of my friends had them, my sister had one, and now both of her children have one, but me, I never got to have one. I missed out on the glorious, comfiness that is the bean bag chair. I honestly think my parents didn't trust me with one, and rightfully so! I'm the kid who would have opened it, spilled out all of the tiny beads that stick to everything, and then have my parents walk into a winter wonderland of bean bag stuffing! If you've never heard of or seen a bean bag chair before, first off, I'm so sorry. Secondly, let me explain to you what a bean bag chair is, and why you might need one in your life!

The history of the bean bag chair

In the late 1960s, Italian's, Pierre Gatti, Cesare Paolini, and Franco Teodoro created the Bean Bag Chair known as the Sacco. As a child in the 90s, learning that this chair was not some revolutionary object created just for kids like me, but something that had been around since my parent's were kids, was a little disappointing. But you see, as an adult, I can truly appreciate the modernism that was created in the 60s, the idea that there doesn't have to be clean lines or a main form, is very appealing to me. I'm sure the first image that comes to mind when you hear the term, bean bag chair, is the round ball that we all grew up with. One wrong move or too hard of a plop and, it was all over, an explosion of bean bag fluff and your tush was on the floor! However, today's chairs are so much different than the one's of our past.

They once dominated the world, being found in every basement of North America and even a few Volkswagen Buses! The bean bag chair was as common in the seventies as bell-bottoms and lava lamps. Today, they may not be seen everywhere, but they’re still considered to be comfortable, convenient, and charming in their own right. So, what do bean bag chairs cost in the twenty-first century? Find the best bean bag chairs on Architecture Lab in this listicle here!

There are so many different styles of bean bag chairs, from your average round chair to high-end bean bags chairs, there are styles to fit every home and budget. While looking at different styles that I could use in my home, I can across some great ideas from Architecture Lab, and it gave me some great inspiration for my space. See, I have a very large sectional with an oversized ottoman that was to be used to extra seating if needed. Unfortunately for us, my 90lb lab, husky, shepherd mix, decided to make the ottoman his bed! The ottoman has seen better days, but it is still a functional piece for our daily lives, but when we have company over, it's not something we like to keep out. We kept looking for something that we could use in the tight space, but we don't have the extra room for chairs. After looking at design ideas, I realized that we could easily use these in our living room and store them in our media room when not in use. They'll provide extra space and if our friends bring their kids over, they'll be excited to sit in them!

What if you don't need extra seating in your living room? Do you have a child going off to college or moving into their first place? A Bean Bag Chair is perfect for young adults moving into college or their first apartment. It's lightweight, easy to pack and move and can be easily carried up flights of stairs or fit into an elevator. It's perfect in a small dorm room, or in a kid's bedroom. Need a place to sit in your closet? Why not try out a bean bag chair? They also make great dog beds, as well! Just make sure to keep them away from any zippers, stuffing, or foam.

If you're looking for something extra to add to your home or the perfect gift for friends or teens, try a Bean Bag Chair. You won't be disappointed!
