Write the Story

Dreams are a part of us.  We focus on these dreams to set goals and we proceed with caution.  When I was in 7th grade I entered a contest with a poem and it was published and it made me feel on top of the world. I wanted to be a writer.  I have written short stories, poems, and have begun writing books only to not follow through with seeking publishing.  I am not ready to share these works with others. Why?  Fear and self doubt.

Yesterday I went to a local store and found this book of writing prompts.  I loved the title - Write the Story. It made me feel like this was a message in learning to overcome fear and self doubt.  As a parent we raise our kids to be members of society, but they struggle with the same fear and self doubt.  That fear and self doubt for them we try to assuage to help them to feel better or learn about disappointments and wins, but we stop doing it for ourselves.
I bought the book.  I may never be a published author again, but if I don't at least try what is that teaching my children? Life is full of dreams that will change as we change, but dreams are meant to be followed and I am hoping to follow my own.  Maybe this will inspire you to follow yours?

  1. Take the steps needed and publish your works. There are so many ways for you to achieve this dream and you absolutely CAN do it!

Remember, not every book is meant for every person. Worry more about serving the people who want/need you to share your gift and not about any naysayers!
