Is December a Good Time to Buy a Car?

The holidays are known to be a time of big spending- from gifts to home decor and travel. Did you also know that there are many people who choose to close on new homes or buy new cars during the month of December? It might seem unconventional- I mean, no one wants to add a lot more stress and anxiety to their lofe during the holidays, but you might be surprised by how easy a process it can be and how much money you can wind up saving if you do your car shopping in December.

If you still watch television (you know- the non-streaming shows, local news, etc...), you probably see commercials for car dealerships who are ready to make deals on what's on their lot during the month of December. If you've waited all year to catch a great deal on a new vehicle, December is the time to buy. You might save nearly 1% more on a car in the month of December than you would during the month of January, a likely savings of over $300.00.

Think about it- December marks the end of the 4th quarter, the year's end. Most dealerships are doing everything they can to push their inventory and sell it to make room for the new inventory that will be coming in for 2019. This is great news for anyone who is in the market for a new vehicle and can spend the extra money on a new car.

If you're ready to take the leap and make a purchase, a new car would be a great gift to yourself or your family for Christmas. You can help yourself prepare and make the process easier on yourself and the sales staff at the dealership before you step foot on the lot.

Do your research.
Go ahead and do a little research online before you head to the dealership. Get an idea as to how much you can put down, what you can realistically afford for a monthly payment, and what types of features you want vs. need the vehicle to have. If you have a specific make/model in mind, you should be able to search through the dealership's online inventory to see what's available.

While you don't need an appointment to visit a dealership, it's always a good idea to call ahead if you think you might want to be shown around the lot or test drive a vehicle. Giving the staff a friendly heads up will help ensure that there are plenty of folks on hand to assist you and help you with your purchase needs.

Don't be afraid to take your time.
Buying a new/used car isn't like picking out a new sweater. Yes, it does need to be a good fit, but this isn't something that you're just going to wind up replacing in a year's time. Make sure that the vehicle you select is the best choice for your personal/family needs, and that it's what you'll feel most comfortable driving for the long haul.

Ask away!
If you have questions, be sure to ask the knowledgable staff at the dealership. They are most interested in helping you find an affordable vehicle that's safe, reliable, and the perfect fit for your needs.

Unload your old car.
If you're thinking about buying a new car, think about what you might be able to get for it before you start looking at new cars. If it's an older model with high miles, you may not get as a great a deal as you're hoping for. You can save yourself a lot of time and headache by going to https://junkcarmasters.com/sell-my-junk-car-for-500/, even if it's an old junk car! Getting rid of junk cars is a great way to get your hands on some cash for a down payment on a new vehicle.

There are usually plenty of amazing deals on cars in December, so if you're in the market for a new one, plan to make your purchase before the new year rolls around, and you'll be sitting pretty in the year ahead!
