I really love this idea! When our oldest was younger, we had work done on our front porch and ended up getting taken advantage of.

That's awful! Sadly, I hear about cases like this almost daily on the news from consumer reporters in the Charlotte area. This is a surefire way to make sure that anyone you hire for a job like that is trusted.
