Find Trusted Online Help and Services with SafetyPin

This is a sponsored post in partnership with BraVoMark and SafetyPin Technologies.

How do you keep your family safe? My husband and I are parents to two amazing kids, and their safety at all times is our top priority. They have never had a babysitter who isn't a family member, and where they attend school also has a lot to do with safety procedures. I'm always on high alert when we're out of the house, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. We live in such a time where we're not able to trust just anyone to do a job, provide a service, or care for our children.

A Virtual Trust Badge

Thankfully, there's finally a way to find that trusted extra set of hands- whether you need a babysitter, petsitter, handyperson, etc. SafetyPIN is an online application process which helps people know whether or not someone you've met online is safe to meet offline. It also lets the person you're potentially meeting know that you're safe to meet offline, too.

Have you ever thought about replying to an ad or forum on Craigslist or Facebook, making plans to meet someone to sell something, or even hire them for a job? Most people (especially women/moms) are apprehensive about someone they don't really know, even at the recommendation of a friend, family member or co-worker. The safest way to know for sure whether or not you can trust someone is to look for a SafetyPIN.

SafetyPin is a virtual trust badge, only awarded to those who have gone through their 4-pronged screening which includes criminal background, financial background, identity verification and behavioral screening.

Applicants must also answer a  behavioral questionnaire developed with criminal profilers and a clinical psychologist to weed out people who may present a danger (even if they don’t have a criminal record). To keep everyone safe, applicants are rescreened and are revoked if the applicant doesn't meet the requirements, even if they were past SafetyPIN holders.

It's easy to ask for a SafetyPIN. They can be shared through messaging or used on a profile. You can ask for a SafetyPIN for just about anything- babysitting, housesitting, petsitting, tutoring, housekeeping, etc.

Personal information is never shared with the other party. All they can see is that you have an active SafetyPIN. Personal data is encrypted and secure.

What's the Cost?

You really can't put a price on your personal safety or that of your family. SafetyPIN is extremely affordable, costing just $1.00 per application, and $6.00 for the first 6 months. After the initial 6 month period, it's less than $5.00 a month. You have the ability to cancel your membership at any time. At this time, SafetyPIN is only available in the US. Most applications are approved within 24 hours.

I wouldn't think of letting someone I didn't know into my home, or being around my children. SafetyPIN is a fast track to finding someone you know you can trust to get a job done well and keep you and your family safe.

How to Apply

It's easy to get a SafetyPIN for a babysitter or for someone you're interested in hiring. Just have them go to http://www.getasafetypin.com/apply,, and they can register and pay for the SafetyPIN themselves. If you'd like to pay for the SafetyPIN, just Go to getasafetypin.com and register (if you’re already a member, you can go ahead and log in).
Once you’re signed in, choose “Vouchers” from the drop-down menu and follow the prompts.
Enter the other person's information and your payment information and then SafetyPIN will take care of the rest! (You can pay for just the application fee or you can cover their membership for as long as you choose.)

We live in a big world with a lot of busyness. Don't let your busy schedule keep you from taking time to keep your family safe. Get to know the people you're considering to watch your kids, your pets, or pick up your mail. If you need to find someone online, know that you can and will find a trusted helper through SafetyPIN.

I'd love to hear what you think about SafetyPIN. Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments.

  1. I really love this idea! When our oldest was younger, we had work done on our front porch and ended up getting taken advantage of.
The work looked okay at first, but after a short time, and some rain, cracks were showing up. Guess who was already paid and not answering his phone anymore?

    1. That's awful! Sadly, I hear about cases like this almost daily on the news from consumer reporters in the Charlotte area. This is a surefire way to make sure that anyone you hire for a job like that is trusted.
