BOB Books Helps Your Child Learn to Read! MBPHGG17

Thank you to BOB Books for providing me with product for my review. All thoughts and opinions shared below are my own.

My four year old soaks up information like a sponge. She's always asking brilliant questions and making observations that surprise me and my husband. She has a desire to learn, and that makes it fun to teach her. We do a lot of home school activities with her to satisfy her curiosity, and she has been showing all the signs that she's ready to start reading!

BOB Books is a  program that teaches children to read. The original books were handmade by teacher Bobby Lynn Maslen back in the 1970's. Bobby Lynn was a dedicated teacher, who wrote and illustrated a set of books customized for each of her students. As the books became more popular, the task became too daunting so she standardized the set and asked the school to print 300 copies. When Bob Books gained national attention in 1993, they turned to a name we all know and trust: Schoolastic.

Where to start?

BOB Books has resources to help you through every step of teaching your child to read. Since our daughter already has a strong understanding of the alphabet and letter sounds, we selected the Reading Kit for Beginning Readers. The kit includes:

Parent's Guide
Workbook
40 flash cards
12 BOB Books Beginning Readers
2 BOB Books Full-length Storybooks

Simple and intuitive

The set is incredibly user-friendly! Each Beginning Reader book is labeled 1-12 and the books build on each other in sequence. They use use three-letter, phonics-based words to create simple sentences to gradually build your child's confidence. By the end of book 12, your child has read all the letters except 'q'.

The workbook is divided into sections that coordinate with the Beginning Readers. They keep children engaged by incorporating reading, writing, coloring, tracing and stickers.

The two full-length stories combine all the skills your child has acquired throughout their reading journey.

I am really excited to start teaching my daughter how to read after the excitement of the holidays! BOB Books resources make a great gift for preschoolers and young elementary school children. They are also perfect for homeschooling families. View the full collection and order on their website.
