BOB Books is a program that teaches children to read. The original books were handmade by teacher Bobby Lynn Maslen back in the 1970's. Bobby Lynn was a dedicated teacher, who wrote and illustrated a set of books customized for each of her students. As the books became more popular, the task became too daunting so she standardized the set and asked the school to print 300 copies. When Bob Books gained national attention in 1993, they turned to a name we all know and trust: Schoolastic.

Simple and intuitive
The set is incredibly user-friendly! Each Beginning Reader book is labeled 1-12 and the books build on each other in sequence. They use use three-letter, phonics-based words to create simple sentences to gradually build your child's confidence. By the end of book 12, your child has read all the letters except 'q'.
The workbook is divided into sections that coordinate with the Beginning Readers. They keep children engaged by incorporating reading, writing, coloring, tracing and stickers.
The two full-length stories combine all the skills your child has acquired throughout their reading journey.
