What I'm Most Thankful for, Even After Thanksgiving has Passed #WordlessWednesday

It's 'Wordless Wednesday,' so I won't drone on too long here. How is Thanksgiving already behind us? Seriously- it was a week ago, and now my Christmas decorations are up and I am wrapping gifts and shopping online, and trying to figure out how all of the 'grands' can attend at least one of my son's Christmas programs. We have donations to make, cards to make out and deliver, cookies to bake, and we still have to pick out the perfect Christmas tree.

The day after tomorrow, December will be here, and this year, I have made a vow that I will slow down and actually enjoy Christmas with my family. I'm always working down to the wire, but not this year. I want to be more organized so I can make special holiday memories with my sweeties.

The photo at the top of the post is from Thanksgiving Day. It wasn't posed or prompted. I happened to walk into the family room to find my sweet kids cuddled on the couch, so I did what any mom would do, I quietly sat down in front of them and snapped a photo before they moved. This photo is priceless. When I look at it, it reminds me that my family is what makes life worth living. Far too often, I take them for granted. I complain that I don't have enough time for self-care or to check off every item on my to-do list. I script our holidays so much that there's hardly time for spontaneity and surprises. Not this year... not this year. This year- it's about them. It's about us. It's about Jesus, the tiny baby who started a revolution and changed the world forever.

I'm thankful for every crazy, tear-filled, belly-laughing moment spent with my loves. Being thankful is an all the time sort of thing... not just something that should give me the feels during the month of November.

    1. I couldn't have staged that shot if I tried! They don't always get along, but there is no denying that they love each other. B is always a proud big bro, and S just adores her brother. :)
