This is my absolute favorite time of year. The holidays usher in waves of love and warmth, and my focus is always on taking care of my amazing family, and showing them how much I love them by doing special things for them. Part of what makes our family special, is our sweet and furry friend, Syd. The holidays are even sweeter with a sweet dog by our sides. Syd is a special girl who is a bit of a miracle in our eyes, and we couldn't let the holiday season slip by without showing her how much she means to our family.

Syd is a six-year-old mixed breed. She was rescued by our loving family, along with her sister, Poppy. Just tiny puppies at the time, the two were adorable, but shortly after their adoption, we noticed that something just wasn't right with the way the puppies were acting. A trip with both pups to the emergency vet led to finding out that both puppies had Parvo. Unfortunately, Poppy did not survive the night the pups were taken to the vet, but strong little Syd was able to hold on and pull through. We were heartbroken to lose Poppy but were so happy that Syd was able to come back home. Today, she's a fun-loving, healthy dog with a zest for life, and she is deeply loved by our entire family.

Because Syd is so very special to us, we want her to be incredibly healthy, so that she can live a full life, filled with lots of love and enjoyment. We thought it would be such a cute gift to present Syd with her very own holiday treat jar filled with BLUE Santa Snacks. I'm not super creative when it comes to crafts, so I wanted to keep it simple so that I could make more treat jars for other pet family members, as well.

Everything needed for my DIY Holiday et Treat Jar was purchased at a local craft store.

For this treat jar project, you will need:

Clear glass jar of any size, with lid

Holiday colored gems

Holiday colored multi-surface paint

Modge Podge

Pet-themed stamp or stencil

Pet-themed holiday ornament

Paint the glass jar your choice of color. I went with white so I could play up other holiday colors in the decorations.

Using a multi-surface craft paint was a great choice. My husband suggested that it would probably work the best for painting on glass, and he was right. I used a small paintbrush to apply the first two coats of paint to the outside of the jar. Each coat dried for one hour before I applied the next. I used a large sponge brush to apply the last coat for an even and polished look.

Use a stencil or stamp to create a paw print on the jar's lid.

I used a cute stamp that I found near the painting supplies. I loved the idea of the jar looking like a pup had left their mark after trying to get to their yummy BLUE Santa Snacks! I chose green paint, but you could use red or white, whichever you prefer.

A few special touches to add a little color and holiday sparkle!

Once all of the paint was dry, I used the red, green and clear colored gems to make snowflake bursts on each side of the treat jar. The topper on the jar is actually a personalized dog bone ornament. I removed the string and used the Modge Podge once again to adhere the ornament to the top of the jar. I love the ornament because it almost looks like a bow sitting atop the jar, and I was also able to add a personal touch to the treat jar by adding Syd's name to the ornament.

After the jar was dry and set, all that was left to do was fill it with delicious BLUE Santa Snacks for a special holiday treat for our very special girl! These tasty treats will surely make your pup wag their tail and beg for more. Since they're filled with wholesome, good-for-you ingredients, you don't have to feel guilty about offering an extra treat here or there!
