Bedtime is always a special time for our family. This is the time of day where everyone is winding down, and we really tune into one another. It's a little chaotic at home between the time I pick my oldest up from school in the afternoons, to the time bedtime rolls around. When it's time to hit the hay, we're looking for ways to help settle our little ones and make sure that they receive a restful night of sleep.

B (6 years old) is usually congested this time of year, due to allergies or cold symptoms. One of the things that has helped him be able to breathe at night, is a humidifier running in his bedroom. Though I've never minded running a humidifier for him, I've always hated how large in clunky the actual humidifier that we usually used was. It was unsightly and took up way too much space. I was looking for something smaller, but had trouble finding something that was appropriate for kids without being too juvenile.

When I heard about ZAQ Sky, I was pretty intrigued to learn how a tiny little machine could act as a humidifier, air purifier, ionizer, aroma diffuser, sleep timer, night light, and starry sky projector in one! Excited to check it out for myself, I hoped that this little guy would be a permanent replacement for our bulky old humidifier.

ZAQ Sky is the coolest humidifier/essential oil diffuser  have ever seen, and it's so compact that we can easily take it with us when we travel. It take up hardly any space, and plugs in with an easy to use adapter. It's available in lots of different colors. My son was thrilled that our ZAQ Sky was orange- one of his favorite colors.

 To use the ZAQ Sky as a diffuser/humidifier, fill the basin with room temperature tap water and add 3-5 drops of your favorite essential oil.

Carefully follow the instructions for use. There is a handy guide, and it's easy to follow.

We don't have a lot of experience with essential oils, so I did some research beforehand. There are some that are not safe to diffuse around children under a certain age. For example, peppermint oil shouldn't be diffused around children ages 6 or under. We decided to go with a few drops of lavender oil, as we only had peppermint, lavender, and lemon on hand at home. I have a fabulous book about essential oils that I am studying and plan to order more oils to diffuse at home soon.

 Make sure the ZAQ Sky is laying down when using as a diffuser/humidifier. Don't try to stand it up when filled with water.

The ZAQ Sky takes up so little room on top of B's dresser. We can plug it in right near his bed so he can enjoy some of its other features at bedtime.

 One of the coolest things about the ZAQ Sky is that it's also a Starry Sky Projector!

The other end of the ZAQ Sky has a built in projector with different modes. Choose the color changing starry sky, or the nightlight mode, which offers a soft yellow light glow. The stars show up right on the ceiling above the area where the ZAQ Sky is plugged in. The projection is so amazing- it stretches across the entire ceiling!

B absolutely loves the starry sky projector. We turn it on the color changing mode as we read a bedtime story, and then switch it over to the night light mode as he falls asleep, so it'll be less distracting and give him a soft glow of light in the evening. It makes him feel safe, and makes me worry less in case he does have to get up in the night. This is such a fun way to get kids to want to go to bed. B even asks to hang out in his bed before it's bedtime, simply because he loves to watch the projection on the ceiling. I really love that there's a timer on it, and we can set it to turn off after a certain period of time has passed.
