While looking for something fun to do this Memorial Day weekend, I discovered an annual event just miles away from our house- Wolf Trap's Summer Blast Off.

Every year people gather to hear "The President's Own" United States Marine Corp Band then watch fireworks. I was shocked to find out about this event! I have lived close to Wolf Trap most of my life and this was the first I had heard of it. It was an amazing discovery!

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is a beautiful concert venue, it features lush landscapes and state-of-the-art sound systems. You are invited to bring along your own food and beverages (yes, even alcoholic). It's a great place to people watch... although, you may experience picnic envy! 

Start your summer with a bang

We sat on the lawn but there's plenty of seats closer to the stage. The event is free and first come/ first serve. With two toddlers, we enjoyed the flexibility the lawn offered. Both girls had a wonderful time listening to the incredibly talented Marine Corp Band, running around and dancing. The fireworks after they played were some of the best I have seen in the area! This will certainly become a cherished family tradition.
