We drink a lot of water at our house! It's the beverage of choice for me and my daughters. I sometimes drink up to a gallon of water a day. Since water is essential for our well-being, I have started to wonder if I am providing the best possible for my family.

WOW! This filter is giant.
I was curious about the size of the filter. Turns out ZeroWater uses a 5-stage system. This is the secret to getting clean drinking water.
Stage 1- Removes suspended
solids such as dust and rust that
make your water appear cloudy
Stage 2- Removes organic
contaminants; pesticides,
herbicides, etc.
Stage 3- Removes additional
suspended solids
Stage 4- Removes inorganic
compounds, such as metals and
nonmetals, as well as radiological
contaminants
Stage 5- Removes remaining
suspended solids
Set up was a breeze! I washed the pitcher with hot, soapy water then twisted the filter into the bottom of the reservoir.

I like that the filter screws in to the system instead of just dropping it it. This forces the water to pass through the filter.

I had been using one of ZeroWater's competitors for most of my life. Since I recently changed my my other water pitcher's filter; I thought it would be fun to compare the total total dissolved solids (TDS) in both pitchers and also our tap water.

ZeroWater won by a long shot! I am really surprised that my other filter left so many contaminants in our drinking water. ZeroWater recommends periodically testing your water and changing the filter when it tests 006 TDS. The competitive brand (with a week old filter) was already WAY past what ZeroWater considers acceptable. Looks like it's time to retire my old pitcher!
Most ZeroWater systems come with a water meter, so you can run a similar contest at home. In the 12-cup pitcher I was sent, the meter fits right into the lid.

The model I received features a spigot to dispense the water. Since my three-year-old is becoming more independent, she loves to help pour her own water.

Time for some water
My husband and I agree that water from the ZeroWater pitcher tastes much better then our other pitcher. He usually opts for bottle water because our old pitcher leaves small pieces of carbon in your glass. We are happy that we can trust ZeroWater to provide clean water for our family, we'll be using their products for a long time!

ReplyDeleteThis prize would be of immense benefit to my household! Our house is pretty old, and was never really taken care of properly- it never saw the kind of upkeep it needed. One major problem is the pipes! Our city's tap water is perfectly fine, but lead and other contaminants from the pipes themselves can get into the water that we drink. I've lived here now for less than 3 years, but have already tested positive for mild-to-moderate lead toxicity. It scares me because in my studies/work I've have dealt with neurotoxins, and our situation is just... overwhelming.
