The Top Low Carb and Gluten Free Eating Tips You Need In Your Life

If you are looking to improve your diet this year, then you may be considering cutting out gluten and reducing the amount of carbs that you eat. Some people get put off by these ideas because they think they will have to eat boring, tasteless food, or that they will never get to eat their favorite, but that just isn't the case. In fact, you can eat delicious and tasty food and your old favorites with just a few minor changes. Read on for more information.

Tip 1: Make sure you don't get bored

One of the most major things that you need to do if you are eating gluten free or low carb is to make sure that you include a lot of variety in your diet. This will stop you from getting bored and falling back into your old ways.

A great way of ensuring that your food is interesting is to use a variety of herbs and spices for flavor. Give that tomato soup a smoky kick with a little paprika, or spice up a sauce with a little chili powder.

Another great way of keeping your meals interesting is to vary the protein that you are eating. Too much grilled chicken breast can get pretty boring pretty quick, so try other items like tofu, crab or shrimp instead. Remember that seafood items are always best eaten fresh, so plan meals including them close to your seafood delivery

Tip 2: If you gotta have potatoes get the sweet variety

Traditional white potatoes are a big no-no for anyone that is trying to cut down on their carbs. Unfortunately, sometimes only a potato will do. If you simply must get your potato fix to try a sweet potato instead. These have a lower Glycemic Index (GI), which means that they are more complex carbohydrates than a normal white potato. This means your body will digest them slower and so they will provide a more balanced energy release. That should avoid the sugar rush associated with everyday potato varieties.

Tip 3: Get great quality sausages to avoid gluten

If you are cutting out gluten from your diet, you may be surprised to find out how much of the stuff is everywhere you look. Even in items that you wouldn't realize. A major offender for this is  sausages, as they are often made with filler that is essential bread. The same can be true of beef burgers.

To combat this and still enjoy a sausage or two when you are gluten free, make or your you get the best you can afford and check that they are 100% meat. They will taste better too. Or you can even make your own so you know exactly what is going into them.

Tip 5: You don’t have to give up pasta

If going without pasta is stopping you from cutting gluten out of your diet, you should check out the various available in shops like this one. There you can get some varieties that are gluten free, so you don't even have to give up your favorite carbonara or arrabbiata.
