I'm not entirely sure how it started, but both of the girls are really into watching videos on YouTube. Recently, we had a chance to discover the SpacePOP series and I have a feeling that D is going to have a new favorite show!
SpacePOP is an animated series that puts focus on adventure, friendship, and girl power. The shows main characters (Athena, Hera, Juno, Luna, and Rhea) are 5 teenage princesses who disguise themselves as musicians and form a band all while plotting a rebellion against the evil Empress Geela.
Each episode is roughly 3 minutes long and features a 90 second music video. New episodes are released twice a week and the series is so well liked that new episodes are getting between 250,000-300,000 new views!
Because of the series' popularity among viewers, SpacePOP has released an apparel line inspired by the show as well as two books and a music CD. We received a fabulous package of SpacePOP items, which means I'll have a super excited 9 year old on my hands!
These books, SpacePOP: Not Your Average Princesses (pictured on right) and SpacePOP:Rocking the Resistance (pictured on left) are both authored by Erin Downing. "Not Your Average Princesses" follows the Princesses as they form their undercover band and "Rocking the Resistance" continues the story-line as the band gains fame, spreading their message of rebellion through their music.
The Not Your Average Princesses album is packed with 13 original songs from the YouTube series. With titles like "Start Something Big" and "We're Gonna Change the World", the album is sure to be loved by your SpacePOP fan while promoting the "girl power" message.
The SpacePOP Rockstar Warrior Princess Drop-Shoulder Ruffle Hoodie is sure to make any young lady on your holiday shopping list very happy. Featuring the rainbow-screen printed "Rockstar Warrior Princess", ruffled hem, hood, and long sleeves with thumb holes- I know D is going to be over the moon when she sees this.
The One Metallic Bomber Jacket features a foil metallic front, ribbed trim, long sleeves, mock neck, and zip front. I can already hear D's excitement and she hasn't even seen this yet!
