Random Acts of Kindness: Wedding Dress Donations

Example of an Angel Gown from Angel Gowns by Michelle

Random acts of kindness occur throughout the world, but have increased in popularity with the tragedy in Sandy Hook, Connecticut.  As a Connecticut native this movement speaks to me, but what does it mean?  Random acts of kindness are acts where we show others we value them as a person just because they have crossed our paths.  We do not do it to get praise, but to praise others for just being them.  I believe doing a nice thing should make one feel good, but one of the best times to do it is when someone else is not feeling good or is going through a hard time.

I have been married for five years and my wedding dress will never be worn again.  It sits in the closet and takes up space that could be used for other things.  I read a story on Facebook about donating your wedding dress to charity, and the one that touched my heart is Angel Gowns by Michelle.  The fabric (from donated wedding dresses) is turned into gowns for babies that are lost during child birth.

Giving birth should be an incredibly beautiful experience, but many woman lose their children to stillbirth. A joyous time, already an overwhelming experience, is even more so overwhelming with grief and planning to bury the child you will never see grow up.  Angel Gowns provides a beautiful gown to bury an angel baby. I am waiting on availability to send my own wedding dress.
